Today is my last day of work and I start retirement. I may consider a part time job in the future or just get to work on all the woodworking project I have been wanting to build but just did not have the time for. I worked at a public school and the teachers were all nice enough to pich-in and get me a retirement gift - a $100 gift card at Lowes. I wonder how they knew that Lowes would be a good one for me. Anyway does anyone have any suggestions on what to use the card on.

Steve,
Before I could suggest what to use the Lowe's card to purchase, I'll have to get over the envy of you now being retired. I'm almost to retirement and it seems like a long time to get there!

OK, now that I got over it... with $100, let WGD go wild !

I wish you all the best in retirement!!
Jim

Steve,

Good on 'ya for the retirement.

Now, be prepared to give up all that free time you used to have. The LOML and I have not had time to do all the "weekend stuff" we used to do since we retired. Not sure where the time goes, but IT DOES!!!!

Congrats on moving into the busy period of your life.

Congratulations Steve !!!!! I can offer no advice on how to use your gift card, you would know best what you need in the way of toyls. I do want to echo what Ray says though, I retired 15 months ago and there is never enough time, I think part of that is the fact that projects we never even considered when the only time available was weekends and evenings have suddenly become mentally viable. Enjoy YOUR new life !!!!

Congrats!!!!! I am ready to retire myself. I only have another 21 years, 3 months and 11 days for full retirement. Not that I'm counting.

As to what to spend it on, that is up to you, but Lowes does have quite a few specials on tools at the moment. Some I remember are Dewalt planer, Milwaukee sanders, Bosch drills just to name a few.

For $100, you can get a brand new 6" Delta jointer! They also have some good deals on cordless tools, with rebates/ gift cards etc.

Congrats on your retirement!

Congrats Steve, you're gonna be busy but it'll be busy stuff that you decide to do. I have been retired 6 months and think I'll stick with it!
Enjoy.

Congratulations on your retirement (I kissed them goodbye on Janury 3, 2003) as I know you'll love it immensely! As to your Lowe's card, how about the Hot Deal I posted a little while ago -- in effect, you'll get 5 great cordless tools for less than $150 with your gift card!
