Roger, it's posts like these that get me into trouble. Do you know I have contemplated 43 different responses in the last 20 minutes?

- That tick must have been a real pain in the butt
- I've never felt sorry for a tick before, until now
- Confucius say: Man with tick on butt may need to pull solution out of ash
- Cheeky little insects aren't they?
- That must have been a butt-ugly tick
- Let me send you a tube of preparation T
- Posts like this just crack me up
- *singing* "I like the night life baby"
- It came home!
- That'll teach you to run through the woods naked (again!)
- Bad case of tickeroids?

It's a good thing my memory is so bad, or I'd bore you even futher....

Does a deer fence keep the deer out or in?

The drought was so bad here in the mountains last summer that the Trout had ticks on 'em!

It all depends on where they start at
Generally it is designed to keep them out. Deer have become a huge problem for folks and their landscaping not to mention the deer ticks that like them also.
This is the fence system that I sell and install -

http://www.bennersgardens.com/

Although we sell and install a higher grade of fencing than what they offer to DIY'ers on that site...just a perk of having it professionally installed.

HS that fence is 7 1/2' tall - yep that would keep a deer out or in wouldn't it? Never seen a deer fence before - guess I need to get out more...

Ticks have shown up en masse here in Franklin Co as well
As a matter of fact, I took advantage of the gentle rain today to bring " shock and awe " to their little community

I use Orthomax granular and a seed spreader. I basically live in the woods and this is the 5th year I've used it and it never fails to completely wipe them out
Doing it during or right after a gentle rain keeps me from having to waste water misting 2 + acres
The hairy children get watched closely the first day and only get to go out to pee. By next day all is safe again and life goes on . That stuff has been absolutely amazing for me

Robert,

I used the Orthomax granular last year, but I had a little better results with the Bayer( in the flea category) the year before ( maybe due to lack of rain last year), so this year I'm back to the Bayer granules. Either way, they've done great for my animals for ticks and just about everything else.

One shot a year and they're done.

Jimmy
