My wife's mom passed away. She lived nearby and was a pretty regular (and welcome) visitor at our house and an important part of our lives. I will have to post something in the shop pets section soon, as her spirit lives on here in the form of Tippy, her canine companion. Fortunately Tippy has a very strong bond with my oldest daughter and is handling it well (better than me, actually ). My wife is also handling it well. Her best friend from high school had flown out to spend a week at the beach (our church's Women's Beach Week) so she was with her and about 4 dozen other compassionate souls when she got the news. Here mom was a widow; my father in law (heck of a nice guy; even though "Redneck" was his pet name for me, I always knew it was one of those "gruff exterior" things ) passed away abut 3 years ago.

I am changing my signature to reflect the life lesson Tippy is trying to teach me to get past this. Quite the philosopher, Tippy is...

Andy I am very sorry to hear about your loss, I hate to hear of any dear family member leaving the party. But it sounds like she was a lucky woman. She lived close enough to be a big part of your family's life....and she was a welcome part. I don't get to spend enough time with my parents as they live to far away for it to be practical. My wife and I had to make a choice to live closer to either of our parents (of course my wife won).
Luckily for your wife she is with good friends that will help her to cope with her loss and it sounds like the rest of the family will always have her in spirit with you in the form of Tippy.
There is always a silver lining to everything.

Dave

Andy,

I'm so sorry to hear that. You all are very fortunate that she was close by and you got to spend a lot of time with her though. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Andy,

I'm very sorry to hear of your family's loss. People kid about their Mothers in law but they are always such a special part of our lives.

My mother is going in for heart surgery in two weeks. I will be in Alabama for a week to help her recover. Please pray for her as I will be praying for your family.

While we have lost both of my in-laws in the past 5 years, with the loss of my father-in-law being the most difficult for both of us. He lived close by and was an active part of our lives. You and your family have my deepest sympathies.
