Just saw a snake on the platform in front of my shop. About the size and length of a ten penny nail. It was black, with a yellow gold band about a half inch from from the head and when it was dead we turn it over to see a yellow gold belly. No pics but wondered what it was and why you would find a baby snake, I mean baby, this time of year. Could not have been a week old. Lorraine

Sounds like a Ringneck Snake - http://www.bio.davidson.edu/projects...n/Dia_pun.html

They don't get to big, only up to 12". They are prefectly harmless and like to eat worms and and other small reptiles.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Well, if I had kept my mouth shut he would still be alive but I called my husband over and you guessed it, he thinks the only good snake is a dead snake. Thanks for identifying it for me.
