I hopped a plane at RDU yesterday afternoon and found myself in Moscow early Sunday morning (4 am Eastern).

My hotel is just next to a giant footbridge over the Moscow River and the view is amazing standing on the bridge looking North and South up the river at the city.

My father visited Moscow during Breschnev's time and a lot has changed but there are block after block of Soviet era grey depressing concrete apartment buildings in the south of the city. I mean block after block. But the city has a lot of greenspaces and modern buildings too.

I'm down..err..over here for work, but hoping to take some pix of the sunrise over the river, tour Red Square/Kremlin late in the week and maybe catch a hockey game. Any other must-see's while I'm here ?

Sadly, no woodworking for me this week.

Cool, Mark!
Enjoy and don't forget to snap a few pixs for us.

Enviously,
Roger

Phew!!! That is a trip I do not want to take. I don't have anything against Moscow, but I do have something against being in airplanes for extended periods. That is a LONG bit of travel.

Sorry, have nothing to tell you to look to do.

Well, here's proof that I went (notice the uber-cool NC State College of Vet Med jacket):

To my right is a high-end boutique shopping mall (formerly a Soviet government department store) and it had a furniture exhibition including this interesting low-backed zebrawood (?)-veneer piece:

Prices in Moscow were sky-high, so I'm glad I wasn't footing the bill for the trip.
