Hello everyone,

I haven't visited as often for the last few months and just wanted to let you all know what's happening down in "paradise". For those who may not recall, I moved down to the beach and shortly thereafter, was laid off from my job.

It has been an interesting time, that's for sure. Rather than going out and taking the first job I could get, I chose to take a step back and really think about a plan for my career. And that plan seems to be in place now. I'm in the process of applying for a local program through GE that will pay me to go back to school and upon graduation, I will be a Nuclear Technician. From what I understand, I will travel all over the country and possibly abroad, performing maintenance at nuclear power plants. Until then, I just accepted a management position at a new hotel in the area.

The reason I say that this has been an interesting time is because so many negative things have happened (ended a relationship, lost my job, etc). Yet, a lot of positive things have happened as well. I met the LOML about two months ago. I was not looking for anyone, but she just happened to be there. Despite having next to nothing as far as money, no job, my tools stacked in a corner at a friend's house and not knowing what to do with myself, she has been there and has been a VERY positive influence.

Now for the relevant good news. About a week ago, I moved into another house at the beach and this one has an empty 10' by 15', fully enclosed storage room on the ground level. Sure, not a lot of space, but I can easily fit my tools in there. All I need to do is put some wheels on the bottom of the bandsaw and I'll be makin' sawdust again!

Lastly, I'd like to appologize for not being around as much. I have very little free time nowadays, but I constantly think about you all and wonder how you've been doing.

All the best!
Trent

Make a plan, work the plan, reap the rewards! Sounds like you have 2 out of three and heading in to home plate on the winning hit!

Keep it up and we'll be introduced to Mrs. Trent and seeing the huge home and shop before we know it.

Trent: Good to hear from you, and good to hear things are going your way! Nuclear power is (along with clean burning coal) THE future for our electrical power needs. Good luck with the career.

Nothing like a good woman to share your dreams and ambitions. Good luck with that also. Keep in touch with us. You young guys are the future.

Trent,

It's good to see thet I wasn't the only person to non-voluntarily shun the website for the last few months. Good Luck on the new place, new LOYL, and the new job in your future.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Sorry about the delayed response. There is just so much to do down here (running, biking, surfing, ing) Seems like every five minutes someone is calling or stopping by the house wanting to go do something.

Anyway, it is raining cats and dogs down here so I think I'm going to go get a load of tools and bring them here. Time to start making some sawdust!

Cheers,

Trent

Good to hear from you Trent. Glad the job situation has improved. BTW, the GE Nuclear thing is pretty good. I worked for GE in the nuclear division for 36 yrs. and don't even glow in the dark (much)!

Hey, glad you are on the up swing! I grew up a down river from three mile island and look how well I turned out? Ok, bad example

A personal thanks for sharing your tale.

I got laid off 3 weeks ago, and my lady dumped me 4 days ago. It really helps to hear that this stuff turns around.

Jim,

It really is amazing how everything can fall apart all at once. I think it is the lord's way of showing us how fragile life really is. In the end, I think it only makes us and those around us stronger. There have been many nights recently when I started feeling down about it, but I really tried to look at all of this as an opportunity to do something better, something positive, etc. Looking back, I needed that kick in the rear end to get out of that deadend job/miserable relationship and make some changes in my life. When all else fails, I think back to the last time I saw my grandmother before she passed away. Her problems were A LOT worse than anything that has ever happened to me. I just think about how strong she was until the end and that kept me motivated. It made my problems seem so miniscule. Don't worry, great things lay ahead.

cheers,

Trent
