Before this house, I lived in a 2 BR condo about a mile from the beach. I lived there for two years and the HOA bent enough people over to pretty much vacate the entire development. Most of those units are rentals, owned by folks that live in Rlaeigh or Charlotte. Still, they are losing money and I am so glad I don't have to put up with that bandsaw anymore.
Kinda like making sawdust at 5 in the morning. or til 5 ever how ya look at it.
Now that I can appreciate. I don't think I ever made it past 3am in my old shop, but I could see it happening if I had one now.
Does NC get storms?? (PLEASE note that was tongue in cheek) Another nice thing about the western part of the state we hear about what some of the 'eastern' people deal with. I do pay a bit more attention now that my baby girl is din Greenville area.
You just jinxed us. We'll get one this year. If a bad hurricane comes through our area, the school will close down a day or two in advance and almost all of the students will go home.

I'm an ex-yankee unhappily living in an HOA community. Next home I buy will be without the HOA restrictions. I can get a shed, but... it's a tough process to get it approved, placement of it, color etc... And the shed will be for the garden tractor, lawn mower, other misc storage, but the woodworking stays in the garage (better climate control than a shed).

Funny, that's how I got my first ham radio tower up in historic Concord, Mass. Asked the guy next door if he minded and he came over to help.

I'm a subdivision that's so old now that nobody does any "enforcement" so I was able to put up a nice 12 x 20 shed with loft space. City inspection was nice, friendly and quick (yes, I did pull a permit). A breath of fresh air for me

The extra phone books can also be rolled up and used as fireplace fodder.
