A bit over a month I made this post about our Dog Rocky who had to be put asleep. My wife and I decided to plant a new tree in our backyard and place Rocky's ashes in the planting.

DaveO knew what we intended. Then without our knowledge, DaveO arranged to contact some of the people on this site and the next thing I knew, the tree was paid for and ready to be planted on the 11th of this month.

First to Dave, thank you so much for putting this together. I have no idea how you did this without me knowing. For all the people who contributed, you have no idea how much this gesture means to Gail and I.

Again, the wonderful people who are members of this site have demonstarted why this community is so important to me. Thank you so much

BTW, the 11th just happened to be Rocky & Pebbles' 12th birthday.

Pebbles at her brother's memorial.

Does she know he is there or does she just want to eat the fresh mulch

She knows he's there bro. It's a nice looking tree and will serve as a wonderful reminder of a loved family member.

Thanks DaveO for coming up with and implementing the idea.

Brian.

Steve and Gail. You two are very special to a lot of people here. I really like the random acts of kindness that make this site what it is. You would be hard pressed to find this anywhere on any other forum. Dave, you did a great thing that will be appreciated and remembered for a long long time.

Steve -- it is a fitting tribute to a fine friend and faithful companion. I remember burying my favorite dog (Crackers, a Gordon Setter) at the base of a special tree that she loved to lie under in the afternoons... that was 45 years ago and I still visit her tree. And we're happy that Pebbles loves the spot, too!

Needless to say, there are plenty of pet lovers on this site considering the number of personalize canine avatars! Thanks to DaveO and those (including me) that helped with this lasting tribute.

Steve why didn't you tell me that, now I am a blubbering fool and my family is laughing at me. Originally the 11th wasn't gonna be the best day due to the Fall Gathering and a big sale at Woodcraft, but it ended up working out that way, and that was too perfect.
This couldn't have happened without the help of our North Carolina Woodworker family, I just herded the cats and used some of my professional contacts. But without the members on this site it would have just been an idea. Steve, I am glad that we could do a little something for you and Gail as y'all do so much for us.

Thanks everyone!!!

Dave

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Steve I have only once met you and Gail but you two deserve this. Dave did a great job of putting this together.
