So sorry to hear this, Steve.

On the very few times I was over to your place, I was constantly admiring both the beauty and the temperament of both Pebbles and Rocky.

However difficult the decision was, it was probably best that you and decided to let him go. You know he is now in a better place.

My deepest sympathy's being sent your way.

Wayne

Steve, I knew from talking with you recently that this might be happening. It does not make it any easier. Rocky had a great life with great parents! My thoughts are with you, Gail, and Pebbles. Take care my friend.

Rocky was family and tough to lose, but he joins all of our lossed ones and will love their company -- Crackers (a Gordon Setter), Copper (a Chesapeake Bay Retriever), Ciento (a Golder Retriever), Spooky (mixed Golden and black Lab), Alex (a Chesapeake), Zebo (A Golden Retriever) and Marley (Rottweiler, Black Lab, Timber Wolf mix) were all there to greet him when he arrived. Nancy and I share your loss of a dear and true friend and companion and share your grief. It is never easy but you've done what he needed. Our thoughts are with you.

Steve,

It hurts. Bad. Don't try to fight it. Let the tears come. It helps. I know. Been there, recently.

You & Gail are in my thoughts & prayers.

Steve,

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I certainly know how difficult that is. Thank you for sharing the story of how Rocky meant so much to you all. You and your family are in my prayers.

Steve, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Our furry friends become such a close part of our family; it is very hard to say goodbye. You were very strong to do what had to be done to end his suffering. Hang in there Steve and Gail... we're thinking about you.

Steve, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of Rocky. Pets are our children and we love them as such. Rest assured you and Gail did the right thing and repaid him with the same unconditional love he gave you.
My thoughts are with you and Gail...

Having lost our pal Sam of 17 years in much the same way, I can empathize with you. Rocky is no longer suffering, so cherish the memories, and give Pebbles a little extra attention, as she will need comforting, too.

Our sympathies are with you and yours

Go

Very hard decision to make Steve and Gail. We went through this about 2 1/2 years ago and know it is not an easy loss to deal with. I was struck with how you cared for Rocky and made it easier for him at the end. The ice cream treat and the observation of Rocky relaxing for the first time in a long time showed your love and caring for your friend. From your post it was clear you made his time here pleasant and let him go as easily as possible. That says and means a lot! You did all you could do. As someone said earlier, look after Pebbles as she will miss Rocky. Our second dog moped around for several weeks when our shepherd Heidi passed. Take care.

Ice cream for the last meal is pretty cool if you ask me. Rocky was a very lucky dog.

I feel your pain. I have shared the last minutes with a lot of family friends over my life. I wish I could make better sense of it all but I guess the best we can do is love them while they're here and keep them alive in our thoughts once they're gone.

Steve,

Our hearts go out to you and your family. Surely missed but better off in this situation. That pic of Rocky with the kitty is priceless.

Steve: Thank you for sharing this heart-breaking but beautiful story with us. Although we have never met I've shed more than a few tears with you while reading Rocky's story. He was a lucky dog indeed to have spent his life with such caring people. My thoughts are with you and your wife. Sleep well, Rocky.
