I'm mostly in the office right now, but I'll be free to roam over the weekend. Hopefully I won't run into my little buddy's big brother. I will be looking for local crafts and maybe even a wood source, although I'm sure the Ag folks in the US might not approve.

As for Cajuns, I'm about as close as you're going to get over here . I did pass by a little place called the New Orleans Bar that served Jamby and was playing some Cajun classics... what a hoot .

I'll try to post some more pics if anything interesting crosses my path.

I am reading a book about WWII in the Philippines and was curious - are there still a lot remnants from the war around the area? I am a little bit curious about the area and was thinking of maybe including a visit there in my own "bucket list".

Hey Rick... I'm all over it. I'm a history buff, so I'll be going over to Corregidor on Saturday. I'll give you an update as to whether it might be worthy of a "bucket list".

Jeff, was that feet and inches or centimeters and millimeters? I'll see what I can do...

DaveO, you do have a point about the dime... I wouldn't be able to get past Charlotte on mine .

Well, it looks like the "THRILLA" is officially back in Manilla. I really enjoyed the pics, thanks for sharing. It must be terrible having such sub-standard accomodations. Are you hiring?

Cheers (from the other end of the world),

Trent

Don't be getting all foreign on me - you guys don't want me selling lumber by the board centimeters now do you? Atleast 16' long and 24" diameter on the small end. Make sure it's good and fresh, felled and bucked the same day as you plan to leave, straight, no knots or visible defect, seal it up with Ancorseal before you put it down the isle of the plane.

Thanks

Ah yes, Subic; the armpit of the pacific. Spent many days there during the late 60's. Once spent 38 days there after we had a fire on our ship while off the coast of VN. I think I was drunk 35 of them. Maybe that is why I don't really care for beer, after drinking San Meguel, you will swear off any brand. Sorry for the highjack but it brought back memories, at least what I can remember. Stay away from the balutes.

When you go, (if you have digital camera), maybe you could take a shot of some the sites, relics, etc and upload them. I am reading a book now titled: Crisis in the Pacific. Also have a table top type book on The Lost Ships of Guadalcanal. For some reason I have always enjoyed the stories of WW II. Especially the "first person" fighter ones (ie Cheanaults Flying Tigers, etc)

Ahhhh, San Miquel beer...now that brings back many, many memories. I drank my share of it in the early 60's while stationed on Okinawa. Speaking of memories, you drink enough of that and you won't have any....memories that is.

Well it's day five and I'm still reporting in from Manila. It's a little uneasy to see so many armed policemen, but things seem safe enough. I didn't get to go the the WWII memorial at Corregidor, because of rough seas . Oh well, maybe next time. Here's a few more pics.

One of our bomb sniffing dogs and it's handler... nice doggy.
