Well, after 27 hours of travel I am in Manila. (Kalai I did wave as I passed over you...)

DaveO sent me here in search of an envelope. This may be an all time record for the pony express . I think it was MikeL who requested pics, so here's the first installment.

Here's a pic of the Manila skyline from my room.

I am roughing it here at the Shangri-La

The Filipinos love their Jeepneys.

This kid wanted me to take his pic, then threw the gangs signs. The name of his parent's Jeepney is "Bad boy"... funny!

Well this is day one so, I'll send more updates if y'all want. Otherwise, I'll check in when I get back.

Thanks for sharing ...

Are you adopting the gang-sign throwing kid? He seems fond of you if I read that sign language correctly.

"Fond Memories" ??? I spent some time over there in the mid 60's and I have memories but I'm not sure I'd describe them as "Fond".
Quite an experience tho . . .

I didn't even know you were going to Manila....

Born and raised in Durham, after translating the sign thrown your way, I can assure you that you want no part in that kid's plan; even if he tempts you with free turning tools and exotic blanks to get in the vehicle.

By the looks of your room, you are being well taken care of. I've never been there, but my wife went there to fight in a tournament in the mid 90's and said that she enjoyed her stay. Have a safe trip.

Reggie, I don't think dere's anyone named Thibodeaux within 100 miles of there!
I almost got sent there in the '90s but never went.

That hotel room looks bigger than what ya get in Europe, that's for sure!

Have a safe trip, Bob!
