I hope everyone inland is getting some rain today. I know it's desperately needed, but man, we're having a really nasty day (athough I did carry LOML to our favorite winery for lunch). A couple of inches of rain already and wind most of the day has been 25-30 mph winds and the predictions say the worst will be tonight.

Trent, if you're out on your board right now, hope you've got your seat belt on tight.

The weather's been pretty crappy here in the Triangle too. Lots of wind and bands of pretty heavy rain. I saw some horizontal rain today around lunch time
Just a lousy day all around

Same nasty weather here all day today and will most likely last through the night. So far we do have plenty of gas down here. I know there isn't any to be had in the Charlotte area and I heard Asheville is about the same.

I went down to the beach a little while ago and snapped a few pictures. It was starting to get dark and the wind has the rain going pretty much horizontal. Sorry for the poor quality. I took the first couple at the end of my street with my roommate struggling to hold an umbrella to keep the camera dry. Then I got in the car and went up under the pier and shot a few more. The tide is pretty high right now and the water was almost up to the dunes. I was hunched down about as high as you can get under the pier. The pictures don't do it any justice. The waves were easily 20 feet on some sets.

Trent, if you're out on your board right now, hope you've got your seat belt on tight.
Ha ha, I went and looked at it this afternoon and I chose to live. Thanks though.

Everyone, please stay safe and look out for your property. This system has more rain associated with it than Tropical Storm Hanna and it is moving A LOT slower. Best of luck.

Trent

We have neither rain nor gasoline -- I found on station with gas for a fill up back on Monday the 15th and have struck out since then. I have 3/4 tank in the Camry that I'll be driving from here to Apex tomorrow and certainly hope I can get gasoline in Winston-Salem or that area. As far as rainfall, we are still in extreme drought here -- we are running 10" below normal for this year (we should have 25" by now) and we finished last year 12" below normal. We did get sporadic rain associated with the last two tropical storms, but not enough to impact the area where I live (some parts of our county got 6-7" others less than an inch). We are supposed to get a little rain tonight and tomorrow -- we need it.

Rob,

We have gas here, and I saw gas today around G'boro & W/S. You should be OK.

Dino,

Was in Western NC (Spruce Pine/Marion) today. Had a colleague from GA working with me that was low & wasn't sure he could find any. I told him not to worry, 'cause it was ALL DOWNHILL 'til he got to Spartanburg! I didn't hit the wind until Statesville, and rain until G'boro. Pretty much both all the way back to City of Oaks.

Rob, you may want to get off of 40 in Mocksville. I think the exit number is 170. There is a large truck stop 1/4 mile to the left off of the ramp. If anyone has it, it should be them. The name is Horn's Travel Plaza.

High wind gusts here most of the day and some rain this morning but now (10PM) it is coming down by the buckets. Sure has delayed the start of a very important project (more on that later).

Hope it clears tomorrow, since I have to grill chicken and play host to about 20 fellow Ruritan members tomorow afternoon.
