Spent this week in Montreal and Ottawa. (Yeah, the ones in Canada!) Snow everywhere! They have had snow on the ground for 6 straight months! And are they tired of it!!

This year they had 12-15' of the stuff. There are piles higher than the power poles!

BUT, the rivers are breaking up, so spring must be near. Lakes still pretty much frozen over.

Reminded me of why I live in the "goodliest land," good old NC!

I really would like to see Ottawa though in a month or so. They have over 3 million tulips that bloom. That has to be a beautiful sight in a beautiful old city.

"Adieu!"

Yea, spring and fall in NC definitely ROCKS!! but the summers ...I think I would take Canadian weather any day, during the summer heat.
The nicest thing about NC weather is if you don't like it wait a day...it will change.

My old office mate from graduate school (late 60's) and his wife dropped in on us en route to Charleston, SC for the weekend -- they are from Eagle River, Wisconsin and were sick and tired of their prolonged winter (still a foot of snow on the ground). It is her birthday this weekend and they decided to drive down to spend it with her sister and see some dogwoods and azaleas! They're "gluttons for punishment" with the long drive, but they marveled in our beautiful weather. It was really great to see them!

Heck no, but it would be nice to see a nice snow fall every once and a while. Makes the nasty winter fun. My 4 year old has never seen snow, but she sure hears about it on TV. I would love for her to experience sledding, making a snowman, or a snowball fight someday.

My In-laws live in Vermont, and the summers are great there, but that's it. Here's how it goes there Oct.- Dec. is winter, Jan.-Mar. is frozen tundra, April is thaw, May is mud season, June is black fly season, July- August is summer, Sept. is fall. Like I said, Summer is great but everything else bites, even the mornings in Sept. are 30-40 degrees. My sister lives in Louisiana, her summers make ours look good, ask Bob (woodartz).

I like NC weather just fine.

Pretty much just 3 seasons now here in NC (unless you live in the Mtns). Summer, fall and spring. Seems like we had a lot more snow when I was younger. I guess there is something to that global warming thing.

A friend of mine who is from Vermont described their weather as "Eight months of winter and 4 months of bad skiiing!"

I've always said that I'm living as far north as I care too. They can keep the snow. I prefer our hot summer to their freezing, snowy, icy winters.

I'm with Bill .....I remember a lot more snow as a youth also. The Shoppe Widow is originally from Jersey and complains every year about the lack of snow. Snow used to be fun ....now it is a PITA to me and I don't care if we never get anymore here

I just completed my first year of living in Dixie after 58 years in NJ. This past summer took some getting used to but I will still take Southern weather over living in the Northeast. My older daughter is in CT (brrrrr ,brrrrrrrr) and the younger one is in San Francisco where temps rarely fluctuate but it gets really damp and you have the omnipresent possibility of sliding into the Pacific. I am definitely happy with where I landed for my "golden years" Now if I could just find a lonely Southern belle...............

Glenn, I'm sure you'll find some good old Southern girl. Just give her a year or so to figure out what you're saying!!

YOU are now the one with the "accent!"
