I posted a few weeks ago that I had joined Weight Watchers and was doing very well. I weighed in this week and met 3 goals all at once. For the first time my weight loss exceeded 70 lbs...total loss of 73 lbs. Secondly, I weighed less than 200 lbs for the first time in 30 years ...198 lbs. Weight Watchers celebrates each 10% loss of your initial weight and I hit my third 10%. I guess that means I'm only 70% of the man I once was. I've been on the program for 26 weeks. My ultimate goal is 190 lbs so only 8 more to go. I plan to gnaw on a pork rib or two and eat a small amount of pulled pig at the picnic this Saturday but it will be in moderation. This weight will NEVER be gained back.

That is awesome. How long have you been on the program? I just started back today and have very similar goals. I hope I can do as well as you have. Great job!

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!!
I hope your goal is reached quickly and maintained for the rest of your life~

I lost over 80 pounds a few years ago, walked 6-8 miles 3 times a week and ate all the things "THEY" say we are supposed to.
BOOM - HEART ATTACK
Hit me hard. I thought good grief - if this is the result I don't wanna be healthy...
Finally a doc got it through my think skull. If I had NOT done all the things I had been doing; I never would have survived the heart attack.

That was 7 years ago, and I've back slid and gained and stopped walking( injury and never started again)...
LOML just survived a cancer incident.
We've just gotten started back on track and hopefully will be able to do well. Can't hope for the success you've had - but anything's got to be better than what I've let myself work back towards
Thanks for the motivation and again-
CONGRATULATIONS to you!!!!!!!!!

Way to go Stuart!!! You could have been a real contender on "Biggest Loser"! I really need a formal program, because I am soooo weak! After I moved down her in '04 and started swimming, I lost 40 lbs. I was shooting for another 10 or so to get down to 170-175, but instead I put 15 lbs back on. Some of it was muscle weight, but unfortunately I ofter participate in the Sea Food Diet- I see food and I eat it.

Andrew- the years of bad diet and lack of exercise before your diet walking program are what did you in. It is a long-term thing. These days, with the cholesterol reducing drugs and better knowledge about what is going with your heart, you have a better chance of avoiding trouble. The doctor put my son on a cholesterol reducing drum and he wasn't even 30! I was never a really bad eater and was rarely overweight when I was in the Navy, but after my heart attack 10 years ago, my Doc said I could have been vegetarian and still had high cholesterol and the same coronary blockages- you can eat it and your body can also make it. I have been fine for the last 10 years and have even been training and competing in swimming. I really do want to lose a bit of weight however.
