Told you all that I was not the photographer in the family. Here are some photos my wife uploaded for a friend recently.

Hey Will,

Those are some fantastic photo's. Does she
do this for a living?
She should if she does not currently.

Will,

I see no tools, no shops, and no NCWWs. So my assessment still stands that you are the better photographer. She defintely takes nice pictures .

Will,

Seems to me, that she should be photographing your woodworking projects. Maybe she could just attend the next shop crawl and take the pics of everybody's projects . She does some great work.

Fabulous photos and a great way to memorialize your trip
She seems to make the same subject matter choices I make: places and nature, but rarely people

Will, give your wife some props from me. Those close-ups/Macros of the Cherry blossoms, Loropetalum and Tulip flowers are outstanding in composition. Great job, and a good eye.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

What I say:

I really like the pictures of the trees and flowers.

No, seriously, those are some excellent shots Will! The close-ups, the composition, the whole nine yards. You should break out the router table and make some frames for those!

From someone who has dabbled in photography all of my adult life. Those macro shots are totally awesome, the detail and clarity is simply amazing.

Awesome shots, Will!!!!

The LOYL sure has a bunch of talent composing and operating that shutter!

(Oh by the way....Thanks for the strong recommendation in your earlier posts regarding the Kodak Z712 camera. I mentioned it to the LOML and she grabbed one for me for my B'Day!)

Thanks for posting the link!

Hey Dave, thanks for identifying the Loropetalum ... I've been wondering what that shrub was . The last photo, we have dubbed the "popcorn" tree. Not sure what it is and if you can identify it would be much appreciated. It seems to be the last one in our yard to bloom. And it is only blooming one flower at a time sporadically....thus the term we have used. (She wasn't trying to compose that pic....just simply sharing with our friends the popcorn phenomenon).

No, my wife doesn't take pictures professionally, although she has on occasion taken pics at weddings we've attended and given them to the bride and groom as our gift. Lots of times I think they came out better than the person they hired (if they hired someone at all). I also have told her that she should try to sell some as stock photos, but not really sure how one would do that, so if someone here has experience, IM me.

.
Hi Will,
We will need DaveO's help for the Latin interpretation, but we also have one in our front yard and have been told that it is a "flowering cherry".

Ours starts out slow (a flower cluster at a time) then explodes with pink blossoms. On a windy day, petals fly all over the neighborhood like snow!
It is a pretty tree, but messy once the flowers start getting pushed off by the new leaf growth.

Wayne

Allen, you are correct, it is a Kwanzan Cherry, which is one of many varieties of flowering Cherrys. I believe the ones that are seen in DC are Yoshino.
