Keep me in your prayers tomorrow

Headed to Duke Hospital tomorrow afternoon for a minor procedure to (hopefully) rule out Barrett's. I'm not a fan of "minor INVASIVE procedures" and I'm sure I'll be fine through it all. I have no idea what stage IV sedation is, but my wife won't be there with me, so instead my FIL will be my cheafeur (sp?) and babysitting me through the sedation.

The worst part is I can't eat anything between tonight and my appointment tomorrow afternoon. I got a feeling I'm going to be hungry tomorrow night.

Greg, all the best, hope things go well tomorrow and the news is good. Read FredP's post on his little accident if you're feeling hungry, that will demotivate you....

Re: Keep me in your prayers tomorrow

We'll think of you while we are eating a big breakfast! Seriously, we'll keep you in our prayers and that it will go smoothly and reveal the best results possible.

You'll be in our prayers.

You're right----the "not eating" will probably be the worst part!

Re: Keep me in your prayers tomorrow

Initial findings: hiatal hernia, a "spot" they decided to take a biopsy of and I should get the official diagnoses in about a week and a half.

Re: Keep me in your prayers tomorrow

Ugh, week and a half waiting, not fun. The only time I want to wait in great anticipation for that long is when there are tools on order! Hoping for good outcome.....hang in there!

I have to agree - the wait will be frustrating. Try to stay busy. We'll keep sending you positive energy.

Re: Keep me in your prayers tomorrow

A guy I work with had his surgeon tell him that he needed a quad bypass but he would have to wait 2 weeks until he, the doctor, got back from vacation. Dr told him to rest and avoid stress in the meantime. Talk about stress.... This story has a happy ending. He made it through with flying colors.

Greg I will keep you in my prayers. I am also going to throw in a dose of positive thninking and tell you that you will be just fine.

Re: Keep me in your prayers tomorrow

Greg,

I have Barrett's. Not the end of the world. I've done much online research, and depending on whose propaganda you believe, only 3%-10% of Barrett's becomes esophogeal cancer. Been managing mine for 5-6 years now, mostly with proton pump inhibitors. Also have endoscopies done every 2 years. Last one showed a reduction in inflamation, so good sign there. Keep a watch on the reflux; follow instructions on the hernia management; if overweight, lose it; and everything should be fine.

Keep your chin up friend!

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.
