Thanks to all of you folks for being there. He had a good life and was well loved. Your support helps more than you can know. And, Bryan, like the poem said, we were with him and talked to him until he was in doggy heaven.

Cathy, I am so sorry. It is the hardest thing a pet owner will ever have to do but we do it because we give them what they give us. Unconditional love.

Cathy,
I all too well understand your pain. We had to put our little Japanese Chin of 12 years- "Meika" down last August 10th. It wasn't our first time, but the pain is just as intense.
It got no better until we acquired little "Koko", my latest chin. She really healed our heart. Maybe it's not for you, but it certainly helped us. And, believe it or not, we still call the new pup "Meika".
You're in my thoughts, and hopefully the pain will go away soon. You are not "Alone".

Sorry to hear of your loss, Cathy and John. Rest assured his (short) tail is wagging and he's feeling much better now!

Alas, there is nothing I can do to relieve the pain, but know that we are in full commiseration with you. Our "Sam" was with us for almost 17 years, but longer did not make it easier when we too had to make that fateful trip with him. Rest assured that he is no longer in pain.

Go

Cathy,

I also can empathize, as we had to do the same with two of our furkids 3 years ago. It still hurts, but it gets easier. Hug on the other, hold onto memories, and when the time is right, you & John start another new relationship.

Cathy, how are you guys? Haven't heard from ya since yesterday morning, just wanting to make sure y'all are alright.

Just a reminder that joy shared is joy doubled, while sorrow shared is sorrow halved. Judging from the responses I've read here tonight, you should have your sorrow halved and halved again many times.

Well, I guess we are hanging in there. John went back to work yesterday and I went today. Strange coming home to only one dog and knowing the other won't be back.

Cathy,
I'm very sorry to hear about the really tough decision you had to make and carry out. You're in my thoughts and I wish you all the best.
