I am writing with a very heavy heart that we are going to have to put our male boxer to sleep in a little bit. John is on his way home and then we'll go to the vet. He's had a wonderful, long life - the better part of 13 years. I'm sure our female boxer will be as lost without him as we will be.

I can truly empathize with you. It is a sad sad event, but it is for the best........

We had to do the same several years ago. It was a very sad day. We took the day off and drove around going nowhere, and finally wound up stopping and visiting with friends. We didn't discuss it, we just wanted to be with friends/family. At least for us, it was not a time to be alone.

I am so sorry to hear that Cathy. As many of you know we had to put our Cody down last year. It was THE hardest decision I've ever had to make, but I know it was for his own good. We'll keep you, John and the female boxer in our prayers.

I am sorry to hear that time has come. We had to put two to sleep. It is very difficult and I know what you are going through. I never thought it would have affected me as it did.

So sorry to hear about your pup. It is amazing how our pets become the focal points of our lives. My wife and I are very aware that our two pups will be 9 in July.

Cathy and John,
I'm truly sorry for the decision you had to make and the loss of your boxer
I agree with others, it's better to spend time with friends and family than alone.

Roger

Cathy i always hate to hear news like this they become so much a part of the family

Hers a link to The Rainbow Bridge that gave us some comfort when we lost a very sweet and proud black lab a few years ago.

Also a poem that helped

If it should be that I grow weak...

If it should be that I grow weak,

And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Then you must do what must be done,

For this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,

Don't let your grief control your hand,

For this day more than all the rest,

Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,

What is to come can hold no fears,

You'd not want me to suffer so,

The time as come, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,

And please stay with me until the end,

Hold me firm & speak to me,

Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see,

The kindness that you do for me,

Although my tail its last has waved,

From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve it must be you,

Who has this painful thing to do,

We've been so close for all these years,

Don't let your heart hold back your tears.
