Way to go Stuart!

I'm currently right on the bubble (28 yo, 5'10", 160lbs) and from what I understand, my metabolism (sp?) should start to slow down and I should start putting on lbs. That is going to be tough.

Good for you for having the strength, will power and determination to change your habits and stick with it!!!!

Trent

Very well done and not a cocky post at all -- I should set the same goals as I'm overweight by a long shot, haven't been getting enough exercise since my shoulder injury (I've milked it for as long as I could and it is much better now), and I'm not getting any younger! Thanks you for the inspiration -- I hope it helps me turn a necessary corner!

Stuart, my sincere congratulations! As someone who is in the process of trying to lose weight, I empathize with everything you've experienced. It's the "hardest work I've ever tried to do." But, with a recent "medical event" I too am learning how to function on a low sodium diet with much smaller portions. Got to get some exercise into the program. Keep me posted. You're my idol!!

Congrats Stuart. That is really terrific news. I need to get my act together and do the same. Like Trent suggested, 26 was a turning point in my metabolism... and that was way too long ago. Maybe I need to try Weight Watchers too.

Again, congrats. You must feel great.

Great Job!!!!
Congrats on the weight loss. Not cocky a bit, you are obviously proud as well you should be. I hope I can follow your example and shed a few excess lbs myself.

Congrats! I'm in the WW brotherhood (the OTHER one), I could tell that I must be the only other one on the board because nobody else has asked, "Core or Points?"

It's a lifestyle choice, and it feels great. My wife and I have been in maintenance for over 4 years now. The few times we inched back we just cut back on points for a week or two and lost it again. I hope that your lifestyle change "sticks".

Mike

ME TOO!

44 years ago, I was just like that!

NOW, I'm closer to 5'9" and weigh 245 LBS! I was about 255... been taking it easy... can't seem to get below 240!

I'd like to lose 65 LBS... to get back to a nice 180.

Maybe I should look into Wt. Watchers too...

It's good to hear such good stories about losing weight.

I like wine with dinner... Stuart, do you / did you / still drink wine, etc.?

Well, I can dream can't I...

Stuart (and Mike) ... I forwarded the thread to LOML and we signed up on Sunday together. We are starting out with the points system. We've done a modified version of it before (because we got the info from someone else and we weren't members). Hopefully we'll be sharing your gloats soon.

Congratulations. Keep it going!

Joe, you can still have a glass (not a half carafe) of wine if you like. You would have to count the points in with your daily total if you were on the points plan. I highly recommend weight watchers. If you are motivated, have the desire, and the absolute belief that you will succeed the scales will register lower on each weekly weigh in. You have to hve all of those factors. Good luck.

Will, I hope you and your wife re successful in your pursuit. You will be if you have the things mentioned above and follow the plan with no deviation.

If I can be of help just contact me.

Nice going, Stuart!

I've done the same thing after being told I was diabetic. It's easier to take care of it before it becomes a medical problem. I went from 225 to 170 and am back to 190 ish (beer is the enemy here... )

Keeping all the weight off is a challenge but doable. I'm back to the occasional Amstel and getting out more (if the good weather ever comes back!)

Steve
