On Nov 13, 2007, this fat boy weighed 271 lbs. This morning (exactly 19 weeks later) I had lost 60 lbs and tipped the scales at 211. My goal is 195 so I have 16 more lbs to go...but I'm getting closer. I am not on a diet, since we all know fad diets don't result in a PERMANENT weight loss. I joined weight watchers in Nov. and have learned to eat in a different way. I still eat almost all the things I did before (the exception is sweets which has been very easy for me to give up). I am much more aware of fat and sugar content and am very aware of portion size. I don't ever overeat now simply because it tastes good. I bought some shorts last week for the summer which are 10 inches smaller than the size I was wearing. Some may be aware of the points plan on weight watchers whereby you have to assign points to everything you eat and not exceed a certain number each day. This is NOT what I do because that would drive me nuts. They have another plan they refer to as the core plan that I follow. It allows you to eat just about anything you want. It has been very easy for me. I hope this post doesn't come across as cocky because it certainly isn't intended to be that way. Maybe it is just a little gloat.

Stuart, I think that is an awesome thing to post. It's quite an accomplishment to lose weight and change your eating habits. I used to not worry a bit about my weight, I worked physically hard every day in the hot sun, and I couldn't gain weight to save my life. Now that I've gotten a little older, assumed more of a desk job I've found that I seem to put on the weight that never seemed to stick before. I try to sugar coat it as my "turning muscle" or the "shed for my tool" but the fact is I'm getting fatter. I will have to do something about it, as it is not healthy nor attractive.
No more thinking that an "all you can eat" buffet is a challenge

So kudos to you for sticking with it, and having such great results.....you're a lesser man for it

Dave

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

What, no pics?

There are some on this site that would say it didn't happen.

Congratulations.

Stuart, that is one HECK of a gloat! You should be extremely proud of yourself, changing your habits & lifestyle is the most difficult thing to do. Like you said, diets don't work, it's about changing the way you eat.

I don't think your post is cocky at all. You found a method that worked for you, stuck with it, and made it happen. That's sharing accomplishment, not bragging.

A very promising post. Dave is right. I have the same problem in that in my youth I worked more physically but inmy later years I've become more supervisory & you don't need to be eating 'sawmill breakfasts' if you're not actually working in the sawmill! I've laid off most all sweets & need to work on my prtion sizes as well. You're an inspiration - and a warning! Keep it up!

This is one of the few times I'll applaud a Tar heel ( I bleed red and white) - But way to go! And that's about the same weight loss target I have for myself. I'd love to get back to 200 lbs. My hardest sacrifice will be giving up my favorite frosty beverages...which is what got me where I am.

It's a good thing that scrollsawing is *such* an active hobby.

That is quiet an accomplishment. I am sure you feel better and more able to do the things you want to do, not to mention healthier. Keep up the good work.
