I drove to Hope Mills this morning to pick up the compressor I bought from Michael Garner. In addition to meeting Michael, I met his wife Sarah. You couldn't hope to meet a nicer couple. As we all know, he is in the army and has previously been deployed to both Iraq and Afganistan. Sarah was also in Iraq when she was on active duty. They have 3 kids and while driving home, I thought of all the sacrifices our military personnel make on our behalf. Many of us have been in the service in the past. Some of us volunteered and others were drafted. Todays personnel are there because they want to be, not because they have to be. They have my utmost respect and thanks.

Micheal is now stationed in Germany and is home for 2 weeks to help Sarah pack their household belongings for the move to Germany. He returns on Thursday of this week and Sarah will join him at a later date.

Michael, I hope you don't object to my sharing these thoughts with your friends. Keep in touch while there and show us pics of your woodworking projects and travels. God speed to you and your family.

Nicely stated Stuart. I have met both of them and they are truly wonderful people. With all the focus on the election and economy we all are quick to forget those who make our way of life possible. We should NEVER forget what they mean to us.

Thank you!!!!!

Thanks for sharing that Stuart. They definitely sound like a great couple to me. A big thanks to them for their service and best of luck with the move.

Thank you very much for your kind words. My wife and I appreciate them very much, and are also very grateful to our fellow soldiers and veterans for your service. After our good friend Tar Heel left my house I thought about all of the veterans that have laid the foundation for our military. People like Stuart (TarHeel) and other veterans (a lot from this site) laid the foundation of freedom for this country and those that defend it today. Serving my country has been one of the greatest accomplishments of my life. It has a price (like selling all of the sweet woodworking equipment one accumulates) that is hard at times, but the good always out weights the uncomfortable. You all have no idea what you mean to me here at North Carolina Woodworker. I will post pictures or our family adventures while in Germany. Have a blessed day my friends.
