If you think thoughts of a drill will protect you from the Darkside, then you are very mistaken, you dont know the power of the darkside young BAS

As grey traces of dawn tinge the eastern sky, Bas, a young flat lands man, emerges from the forest shadow. Fording the river at dawn, He turns south, journeying into the dark and forbidding land of the darksiders. Even now the intensity of their round power can be felt, rounding the wood and hollowing the center. Ultimately he will become a empty, mindless spinner; equipped with wood beaters, only his thirst for biscuits gives him hunger for the the square...

Jeff... that's just plain beautiful. You're quite the raconteur

Bas get the lathe so Jeff... can get off this Jedi mind trick and poetry this has spawned. We need him sawing, not waxing poetically

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Dave
Lo! Not yield will I
For wood round at first it was
But square end it must

(Yoda's collected Haiku verses - The Early Years)

And yes, we want Jeff sawing. But it takes a well developed mind with a keen sense of nature's beauty to properly saw lumber my friend! This is not like slicing bread. No sir! It is about exposing what's naturally inside the tree in such a way we humble woodworkers can make the grain sing! It's not about encouraging the tree to reveal quilting, spalting and bling-bling.

Besides, if I get a lathe, this thread must end. I can't believe it is still going! See what you have done, Darth NCScroller?

Ah yes we need Jeff sawing, making all that flat wood.

But if we look deep enough we shall se Jeff making pen blanks and bowl blanks, he just may be the sith we have been looking for

Shreds of black clouds loom in overcast skies. The spinners keep watch through transparent alcohol die. They don't use square, saw or blade, it's wood beaters that are the tools of their trade. Laughing, as they are fully aware, that young Bas is trapped in their lair...

Enter the champion, Travis Porter appears, to battle for freedom from spinners of long years. The spell has been broken, the dark lands are bright. The ways of the spinners drift away out of sight.

Bas,
Check out this site. John offers classes and sells the best wood lathe made. The Stubby lathe is made in Australia, is expensive, but is the choice of professionals.

Strange and disturbing, this thread is. But who, and why, harder to answer. A problem, Houston, we have. Meditate on this, I will.
