I had decided to buy a Bolens from Lowes. Today, I stopped at Lowes (surprise, surprise!). They had a Troy Built that retails for $199.98, marked down to $99.99. Someone had bought it, cut their grass, and then returned it. I had a $10 off $50 coupon, along with a merchandise return card, so I jumped on it. I just don't understand how someone could just buy a mower and use it and then return it. I was raised different, I guess. Thanks, Mom and Dad for the good job you did. |

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

The first time I fired it up and started using it, the engine did this constant rpm increase/decrease. Up and down, up and down. I actually read the manual and tried every adjustment I could think of, but couldn't get rid of this very annoying problem. Now, maybe I'm just a moron and should have been able to figure out how to fix it, but I couldn't. So sometimes there are reasons for returns other than just someone trying to stick it to the man. Lowe's has gotten many thousands of my dollars in the past, so I never feel bad about returning something I feel is defective.

If the item is actually defective or you can demonstrate that it doesn't work as you expected, they waive the charge. If you return it simply because you "don't like it" or "changed your mind," then there's a 15% restocking charge. This pretty much compensates for the jerks who use retail stores as a cheap alternative to rentals.
Bill certainly has a point on this, and this accounts for a significant number of the units you see. But when I see five pressure washers sitting in HD as return resales, it's hard for me not to think that the previous "owner(s)" didn't use them as cheap rentals. Steve

That's what everyone else does." CARRRRRAZY!!!!

They returned all twelve on Monday.

"These here diapers say 8-12 lbs on them and I can't get more than 4 in them."
It is possible that the original buyer really was disappointed in the mower. I recently upgrade to an old riding mower so my 12 year old daughter can do it. .gif) |
