Huge Fire

Thought I would post this as a reminder what can happen in a wood shop. This is a Mill Work in Salisbury NC burning this AM all employees got out safely. Please Pray for the firefighters battling this huge fire.

Re: Huge Fire

Newto....
Thank you. On behalf of all firefighters everywhere.
Nope I'm not their spokesman, but please let me assure you
any time anyone says thank you, or acknowledges the hazards that they face - it is appreciated. 99 out of a hundred will downplay the hazards of the job, and probably run when the cameras come out. (watch out for the ones that don't lol)
Ask 1000 firefighters why they do it and you'll find 1000 different answers. Even those that do it as a job.
I assure you I could have made a lot more money in many different jobs. If I'd taken that railroad job back in 1978 I could have retired years ago making much more than I'll ever make as a firefighter, and with a heck of a lot better retirement.

That is sad. Fire Crews really are something special.

Talking Re: Huge Fire

The fire fighters are not the only ones who will need prayers. Tomorrow they will have jobs - I would not be surprised if the ww'ers in that mill do not.

That is how close we all come to life's hardest knocks. Makes me want to go back to Jeff's post from earlier today ...

Re: Huge Fire

I think that is the second wood processing facility to burn in this area in the last few days...that sucks for all involves. Owners, employees and those who try to save the facilities and the people.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Huge Fire

Thank all of you for your prayers and thoughts. As a former fire and rescue member it has really hit too close to home for me. I would ask that you also pray for the families of the fallen heroes. One of them was only 19 years old. They gave their life to protect others. Also pray for the workers that are now without a place to support their families. This was a terrible fire and it has taken a terrible turn for the worse.

Thank You!

Tracy

Tracy,
I stand beside you as a former Fighter/Fire Chief. I pray that those familes will be comforted by God's hand and let all know that these firefighters did not die in vain, but doing what they did best "Helping Others" I pray that those who willl be without jobs, that the community will step forward and help ease the loss by "Helping Others" Terry
