A rant of sorts which I plan on addressing tomorrow morning. My wife bought me a new Rigid shop vac over the weekend and tonight I find out that they had a $30.00 instant savings on the purchase price which the check out clerk didn't mention. I have printed out the page from the HD website and plan on taking it to the store to get my $30.00 either in a cash refund or money towards other product. How do you rate my chances in getting this?????

I'm not a big fan of the big boxes ... but usually they are fair in this situations.

Good luck and let us know!

I think your chances are very good. Most places have a 30 day low price guarantee. Often times they may even ring it up as a return (without the product) and re-charge you for it with the discount.

Worst case senario, I would buy another one with the discount, and then return the new one with the old receipt. That is lame that the cashier did not mention the deal. Good luck!

I would think your chances are excellent. I would hope you have zero issues/problems with it. Amy's worst case scenario is one I have threatened to use with them in the past and it worked.

Won't be a problem. Worst case, you return it, get your money back, then buy the same product at a discount.

But let's focus on important matters - pictures! And YOU ROCK!! Ridgid makes excellent shop vacs.

You'll get the refund, but because of incompetence, it will cost you a few dollars in gas money and personal time. It's a shame.

I could definitely see that happening. At the local HD, they hire some cashiers that know absolutely nothing about tools/etc. I sure as heck wouldn't expect them to remember promotional deals. I doubt you'll have much trouble getting the discount though. Good luck and YOU ROCK on the new vac, or the new vac.

Cut the clerk a little slack. They have specials starting and stopping every time you turn around. I wonder why the registar system did not pick up on the special price. This stuff is usually in some kind of computer system.

Wonder how many times the clerk did everything correctly and no one bothered to say thank you.

Yeah, it is a PITA but any manager in the store has the authority to correct this mistake. If a manger gives you a hard time then you have every right to take aim and fire.

Keye,

I do cut clerks slack, I was one for years. But it seems that someplaces more than others have this happen often. And HD is one of them. I choose to go there only when I absolutely have to, and I always watch my receipts. I don't know about you but at $3.50/gal for gas it costs me about $10 for a round trip to HD, that's not chump change.

All is well. Went to HD this morning with receipt in hand and told the Mgr. about the deal. He told a cashier to take care of me and within a few mins., she was doing a refund onto a store card. She then rang up the sale which left 30.00 on the card. So, I am thinking, I wanted the upgraded hose for the unit and couldn't resist getting it. Had to come up with 5 more bucks but I got a nicer hose than the std one that comes with the unit. A little smaller in dia but much nicer.

I don't take the camera to work much so you will just have to take my word on it.
Here are the stock photos of the vac and the upgrade hose.

Ok that is a nice gloat. You are not really going to put that in the shop and get it dusty are you?

YOU ROCK!

And I knew Home Depot would do the right thing, because they knew they had a 50% chance of you spending that $30.00 while you were in there.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Nice gloat! I've only seen these at the store ... you'll have to give us a good report on how it works. I think the hose upgrade was a great idea ... after all, that's the parts you will have to deal with regularly.

Good deal on the instant savings! (and a U-Suck on the vac).

Does the vacuum have a stationary home?

I didn't know we could "gloat" on vacuums. I have the Ridgid that the motor/vacuum detatchs comes off of and becomes a leaf blower. RIGHT..like I would use it for anything outdoors. But it works great for getting the dust out from behind things like the beer cooler refrigerator....and *then* sucking it up.
