I think the question is: How did he get up there?

BTDT...and it ain't a real good idea

Of course my buckets were from Lowe's and those obviously must be professional grade buckets, because I am not nearly as big as that guy

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

He'll never make any headway with that getup. He's gotta get down & move the buckets every few feet. Heck, just get 3 more buckets & a long plank & get the job done ......... just don't let OSHA come by!

I don't think so. I do a lot of PS work and I don't see it here. Shadows are hard to fake and all the shadows look real. I think it's real. Probably another guy helped him up on the buckets.

If you don't have a ladder and you don't have a board you just get by with what you have.

I saw a lot of crazy to us but very normal to them kinda stuff like this when I went down South, I mean WAYYY down South. South America.

I saw guys cutting grass in a park with weed eaters, not just trimming but cutting the grass. This was a big park where we would use a John Deere or at least a riding mower, but they were out there walking in line cutting the grass with weed eaters. Maybe that's all they can get. A riding mower might cost five years wages down there.

I saw a building being torn down one brick at a time. We would use a crane and wreaking ball then bull dose the rubble. But they were using brick hammers to chip out each brick, clean it as they went and stack them on the ground. Moving everything by hand. This was a 4 story building in the middle of town and probably 40 guys were chipping it down one brick at a time.

The thing is you don't now where this picture was taken. It may be in one of those South American countries where the is no OSHA and ladders are expensive. This may well be the normal way of painting ceilings down there. You just don't know.

You have to realize everybody is not the same as you. There are other ways of doing things that may seem strange to you but are perfectly normal and acceptable when you know the reasons for doing it that way.

Seeing what the "normal" way of doing things is in lesser developed areas makes me thankful I am in the good old USofA despite our blemishes, warts and occasional missteps.

Yep, we do have it good, but others make do with what they have -- I'll never forget seeing two- to ten-story buildings being built with bamboo scaffolding lashed together with cord in SE Asia. It is the standard there and it is amazing to see how they do it. And worry not, they seldom have problems as the stuff is as strong as steel, but it just moves more.

As for the Ladder picture, I've seen lots more use of stilts than this technique and I suspect one of his buddies set it up for the picture for shock value. The three buckets could even be bolted together to make it more stable.
