I had a great day yesterday. I was able to meet Steve Cole and his lovely wife and Bas. They were kind enough to lend a hand when my husband and I came to Apex to pick up my new toy, a used planer, 400 plus pounds. Hay guys, it took four men to get it into the shop and an electrician today to wire it for the shop. Many thanks again to all who lent a hand and to the guy to saw the planer on Creig's list, once again you came through for me when I needed help. Thanks Lorraine

Planer - not intended to be used for round spinny things - I see the light don't you?

You met some of the sites nicest folks, and you met Bas, just kidding Bas. Sounds like a good day for sure.

I see their faces on the site so often, I felt as though I already knew them. Great guys. Slap my hand, I forgot to mention Scott, he was responsible for linking me up with Steve and Bas, thanks Scott.

No problem. Most people who know me try to ignore me on purpose.

What, you think Steve looks like a dog?

It's not that we try to ignore you on purpose. It's that we simply try to erase you from our minds

Congrats on getting the planer in the shop Lorraine. Of course, no pics, didn't happen

Ok I will take a picture tomorrow but someone will probably have to add it to my post. Don't think there is much question about it being in the shop, as the six or eight backs who came to help.

A 400 lb planer? I bet Steve and Scott sat around and Bas moved it all by himself. j/k.

Congrats on the new toy Lorraine. Let's see some pics!

Actually, you're pretty close. Mr. Newton did most of the moving, I just did the tipping and Steve and one other guy added some momentum. Carrying a 12 pack is heavy work by comparison

Don't let your beer drip on it with Bas around or he'll start making strange noises.

That was Bas' anti-rust alarm. It goes something like this... aahhh, aahhh, aahhh, ayeee (emitted with a Dutch accent at 92 decibels)! It goes off anytime the moisture content rises to rust producing levels on any tool in the shop. I saw it in action... very effective! Just ask Tracy .

As effective as the "Emergency Broadcast System" saved my tablesaw from certain doom

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

I should have recorded that, I don't think I'll ever be able to reproduce it. Would make a good $29.95 gadget I guess the only solution is to head over to Dave's shop and have Tracy open numerous bottles of beer, dripping water each time. Trial and error
