I'll likely look at them too.

What this means is that Google can't find ads that match the content and that is because it is a search page that can't really be crawled. So that space will be a perfect place to place someone else's ad

I agree with Sapwood that its a small price to pay for a free site.
How does this work? Is google's software setup to detect the type of content on the page or site and gear the adds to that content?
One concern though. I remember at SMC when they first started adds there was a Amazon add on the site for a book or movie on a pornstar, Marilyn Chambers I believe it was. Could that happen here?

One concern though. I remember at SMC when they first started adds there was a Amazon add on the site for a book or movie on a pornstar, Marilyn Chambers I believe it was. Could that happen here? The google adsense program looks at the content of the page(s) and gears the ads towards that. So far it appears that they are doing a great job. Since the pages the ads are currently showing pages that don't have static content, the 2 things it seems to be getting is North Carolina and woodworking. I suspect, if I put the ad on a page with a more specific topic, the ads would be even more specific. Google seems to do a very job.
Also, I have a setting that does not allow adult oriented ads.
As far as blending in, a lot of that is under my control. I've colors, etc. that I hoped would not shove the ads in your face.

Another site I frequent almost daily (non-woodworking) has become dang near unusable due to slow loading from all the animated display ads With Papa Smurf controlling things I cannot see that happening here.

You did a great job of blending the adds into the background yet making them noticeable

Those are public service ads. That's what google does whn it can't find relevance. I will be changing it soon.

I think the ads fit into the website perfectly! Great work Steve!
