My old '96 Ody has about 150K miles on it and recently has had a few different noises and issues crop up. But I love the thing! I could go the dealer route, but I think it is likely to be very substantial and I probably want to look at after market parts (I am still willing to pay the right amount for labor; I want it done right). We are about to go on vacation using my wife's car, so I have a rare opportunity to leave it with someone for several days. What I would like to do is drop it with someone late this week to look at and give me an estimate and then have all next week to do the repairs. That should make parts availability at reasonable prices less of an issue (I hope). Anyway, please offer up some suggestions if you have them. The closer to my area (1010/Kildaire) the better, but integrity and competence are most important.

Thanks!

Andy,

I have used TAO Auto on 610 West Chatham Street in Cary for repairs to my daughters Honda civics and they seem to be very good. (They only will fix what needs fixin'!)

I second Wayne. I hear nothing but good about Tom Owen's place. IIRC he's the Honda specialist that's been around the longest in Wake County.

Thanks, guys. I am dropping it off there late this week. I am not sure who I spoke to on the phone, but he asked me a lot of specific questions and it was really obvious he knows the model inside out; he pretty much diagnosed the biggest issues (listening to me tell him one symptom and then telling me 3 others with uncanny accuracy). He spent a lot of time talking to me, told me to bring it by late this week and didn't even take my name (I had told him how wide open my timing was, so a specific appointment isn't necessary). I liked that; I felt like he was more concerned about fixing my car than taking my money (I am sure he will get around to that, but it always bugs me when businesses want to set up an account before they will even talk to you).
