Free Hard rubber casters
I figured that the word free would catch most people’s attention and that is exactly what these are. Free hard rubber Casters.
I have two (2) sets of four each hard rubber casters.
Here are their specifications:
- Each wheel is made of hard rubber 4 1/2 inches in diameter.
- Two casters have a floor lock, the other two do not.
- Each caster has a 1 5/8 inch friction post for attachment to your project. Just drill a 7/16" hole and plug them in.
- Each caster has ball bearing swivels.
- Each wheel is industrial quality that is suppose to hold over 100 pounds each (400 pounds for a set) and are designed for hard floors.
- These casters can be purchased for over $15.00 a piece.
These would make great casters for an out feed table, or even for mounting under machinery to make something in your shop more mobile.
The questions may be asked: Why I am I doing this?
Good question, I'm glad you asked.
This forum has given so much to me since December. I got to borrow some plans from Jeremy, Scott gave me some Formica, I have met some really nice people and I have had a ball just being around people that feel the same way I do about woodworking, well,,, I just wanted to give something back be it ever so humble.
There is only one catch and that is, I don't deliver. These will be for pick up only and a photo may be taken of the exchange to share with the rest of the forum. By the way I live just north of Charlotte in Huntersville NC.
Here is how I propose to be fair to everyone.
If I only get two interested parties, then they win the caster end of story, but if I get several people who would like them, I will place everone's name in a hat and draw out two lucky winners.
All responses will close for these free casters on February 6th at 10:00pm. That gives everyone a week so see this post and either submit their name or laugh at me. I will be open to both.
I have never seen or done anything like this before so I hope I am doing right by everyone. The last thing I want to do is hack anyone off. Believe me, My intentions are honorable even if my methods may lack intelligence. Good luck to all who are interested. To those who are not, thanks anyway for allowing me to learn.

Re: Free Hard rubber casters
Hi Mark,
I'm not really interested in the casters but wanted to thank you for the offer. You are keeping the spirit of North Carolina Woodworker alive by sharing.
If anyone laughs at you, let me know and I'll have DaveO send over some elves to bust their kneecaps

Re: Free Hard rubber casters
Mark, I think you're onto something here. I joined this site in November '06 and feel much the same way you do. I would also like to give something back to the community and will try to find something appropriate too...
Please put my name in the hat, I'm not far from you, could use some good castors, and would love the chance to come and say hi in person!

I've done it here a few times and on another board. I am sure to do it again.
Also called a random act of kindness.
Pass it forward!
or RAK for short

Re: Free Hard rubber casters
Mark very nice touch. You will get no laugh from me. Only my admiration for your RAK. I hope you make it to the picnic so I can shake your hand.

Re: Free Hard rubber casters
Scott,
I really want to attend the picnic but things are looking very promising for a mid may wedding. My youngest and last is thinking of taking the plunge and if I missed that for the picnic, I would be in deep do do.

Re: Free Hard rubber casters
I just made my first delivery of a set of four casters to Joe in South Charlotte. I didn't get a picture to share but I will share some of my observations.
First off, Joe is nice guy. He will talk shop with you all day and keep up his half of the conversation. That is something I admire and being a blabermouth myself, someone I can relate to.
I immediately noticed that he parks his cars in the driveway not the garage (shop). A Man who has his priorities straight. Speaking of the shop. ****, is it nice. Epoxy floor, tools galor, and everything is neat and tidy. It was like walking into what a shop is suppose to look like rather than mine that you feel like you need either a bath or a tetnus shot after a walk through.
I got the grand tour, met his wife, his dog, and his sleeping daughter (she was on the couch and we did not want to disturb her). It was a great visit and I was invited back which I no doubt will take him up on. Having met Joe, my giving has already returned the prophesied 10 fold. I can hardly wait for more of this.
