Well, after being laid off last year, I have finally found a job. I have been out of work for 14 months, but 8 of those I got severance. And the last 6 months I have been receiving unemployment benefits. So I have been lucky to have money coming in, even if it wasn't as much as I made while working.

The company that hired me is a small print company like my old one, and I will be doing something similar to what I used to do along with some new things.

I wanted to mention this so others in the same boat that I was will know that if they keep looking, something will eventually turn up.

Thanks Geoff.

I guess the one upside of being out of work is that I was able to get several projects done around the house. I would have liked to have done more, but while I had plenty of time, I didn't have plenty of money.

Congrats, Bill!!

Now it may be time to fund the tool budget too!

You are fortunate to find work that was so similar to your previous position.

No more sleepin' in late!

I admit, I did my share of sleeping late during the summer. But during the school year I have to get up early to take my son to school. But this will mean no more mid-morning naps.

My wife will probably be glad to get me out of the house. She works a 7 on/7 off schedule, so we have spent a lot more time together than we are both used to. I think she was afraid I was unofficially "retired".

Bill,

I'm so glad to hear that! Congratulations! Looking back now, I should've just kept getting unemployment until I found a good job, but after two months, I was losing my mind sitting around the house. Settling for a less than appealing job is not fun and at times hard to justify, but I still think it beats sitting at home, at least for me. Good job being patient and focused.

Bill,

Congratulations on finding a new job, now you can update your profile from unemployed.

Good luck on the new job,

Thanks again guys. Yea, I feel very lucky to have landed this position. On the surface it has a lot going for it. It's close to my son's school, so I will still be able to drop him off in the mornings. The company/work is similar to my old company. And the money is actually not far off what I was making before. But I guess I won't know for sure it's a good place to work until I get in there and see how things are.

Bill,

Congratulations! Printers have been hit hard the past few years. I'm glad too hear that you found something close to what you were doing before.

Congrats! I've been there, too, and remember how satisfying it was to leave some of those question marks behind. Sounds like it was worth the wait and patience.

Congratulations Bill! Since I work in the financial services industry, I've been a bit jittery lately. 14 months out does scare me a little bit; I'm glad you were able to find something.
