Everybody ok after storms and winds?

Well, another day and night of storms and high winds. We tend to be in a protective area (courtesy of our location in relation to the mountains). I see Ahoskie on the news this a.m. as well as western counties of the state. Is everyone okay?

I'll check in from Garner - I managed to get my yard mowed down to reasonable height Sunday - storms didn't start there until Sunday night, that I know of. I was away on Saturday.

All we got was buckets of rain in front of the storm. Then the sun came out and we watched a funnel cloud hanging down from the thunderhead travel towards Mt. Pleasant/Albemarle. Luckily it never touched down. At one point you could see a rainbow behind it. Kinda neat in a scary way.

I've gotta turn the TV on more often. I didn't know there was any storm activity across the state! We just got rain at my house!

Re: Everybody ok after storms and winds?

Doing well in Henderson County- at least we are. Hard night. Horrendous winds. Trees and power lines down all over the county. Few fires- mostly brush but one house caused by it. Two cars into power lines. And, it isn't over yet. Can't believe the cable/internet is still working.
Power was on and off all night. Dang furnace kicked on several times. Hate that. All I hear is $4.50 a gallon screaming NOOOOO........!!! Blackberry winter I suppose. They're blooming so it'd be right.
Only people I can think of that hate severe weather worse than firemen are the power company linemen. Guarantee you I wouldn't swap jobs with those guys! I'll take my chances any time with most anything except electricity.

Lots of rain and winds here in southside rural VA, I hate horizontal windblown rain !!! But no damage that I know of other than a little more washout into the woods where the grass has not taken yet

Re: Everybody ok after storms and winds?

Here in north Raleigh we had loads of rain, but no problems. I was even able to grill the steaks for Mother's Day between the downpours. I guess there was a bit of excitement out where on of my daughters live... anybody from the Greensboro area? How did you fare out that way?

Re: Everybody ok after storms and winds?

Haven't got all the info yet, but my BIL's wife had some hail damage to her car. I think my FIL may have some roof damage to their house. They are in Vale, west of Lincolnton. I don't think it is anything too serious, but it will be a pain to get everything fixed!
