Wood workers must generally be early risers. I've never been able to sleep in, which makes for great quiet mornings as the family sleeps in. I always see a lot of folks on the board posting early Saturday and Sundays.

Just an observation as I motivate myself to get down to the shop and do some clean up.

Rob,

I guess this early on a Sunday, we need to run in stealth mode... sweeping up or just hand tools. AS much fun as big noisy power tools are, there is a lot of pleasure in using planes, chisels, scrapers, etc. I just have to figure out how to match hand tool time with neighborhood quiet time.

Yeah, if I don't get up & going early then I develop 'mechanical problems' & hafta put a rear end in my recliner. Some nights when I can't sleep I'll just log on to look at posts too. I've seen others on at odd hours for probably the same reason. The news sites certainly don't offer much anymore.

I always get up at 6 am unless I have trouble sleeping and get up before then.

I don't have the stealth mode problem though, My shop is far enough from the house that I can use any tool up to the chainsaw without complaints.

It's when I want to achieve that early American distressed furniture look that I have to be careful of the time. Don't want to awaken sleeping wife with the shotgun.

I don't know. I was kind of thinking lots of people around here were whimping out and sleeping in. there are lots of times I come on here at 2 am or so and am alone! Some of you guys need to step it up!

(PS: I also clean the shop early in the morning....I hope that isn't a bad thing...)

What IS this strange procedure you call 'clean the shop'?

Out here in the boondocks not many to disturb except the whipoorwills but one of my immediate neighbors is a State trooper currently assigned to midnight shift. Projects in the early morning hours are kept at a quiet level until his shift changes again. No need to tick off a heavily armed neighbor

I am also on here a lot in the very early am 2 or 3 am and when the members online count drops to one "just me", I usually log off. Guess I am scared to be by myself

For me it's when I need to re-arrange to fit more tools.

Also when I can't walk through all the saw dust on the floor.

Well, hear it is Sunday 9:47 am. I have been at work scents 7:30 at the dealership. Had to load some new software on the system, about done.

I've been on at all hours of the night, but it's not due to being an early riser, instead it's because I worked shift work for 16 years. I kind of wonder if that will ever go away, I've been three years clear of midnites and I'm waiting for a week of good sleep at night.

Well, I guess you still be seeing me online at odd times.

Jimmy

I worked shift work for 5 years, 2nd and 3rd. I don't have any issues sleeping at night, but I can't sleep past 7 AM. Even if I stay up late. So if I don't get to bed at a decent hour, I'm still awake at 7, just feel lousy all day.

I am on at all times because I don't sleep well. Now since I moved my scroll saw to the house I may spend more time on that than online.

Years ago, before I had kids, I broke my ankle and was out of work for three months. When I had no one to answer to, and on my own timeline, my natural hours became bed at 10pm and wake at 5:30 am..

I guess that maybe my natural body clock.
