Tarheel did the legwork to put together a lunch get together so I made the trek down to Durham and enjoyed good food ,fellowship and the expected sharing of woodworking stories and knowledge Lest we be accused of no pics/didn't happen some pics were taken:

Knowing that the new HF was within "spittin distance " Gator had the foresight to print up some extra coupons for some sale clamps so of course I had to stop on the way home..............

I was about the last to get to HF and Roger had gotten the last clamp left but I managed to get some floor mats to ease my feet from my unforgiving concrete shop floor and a better metal detector to save my planer blades from tramp metal in my recycled wood stash.
After HF my next stop was FredP's shop to pick up a double sink granite cutout he has been holding for me I got to drool at his PM gold machines and massive stash of hardwoods Thanks Fred!!!!!!

173 miles and several hours after I started I arrived home to find that FedEx had visited while I was out and delivered the Wixey package from Woodcraft that several had recommended as a hot deal

Great end to a great day!!!! fellowship, tools , and a nice road trip

Nice meeting you today Glenn. Also Pete, John Reeves, and ebarr. And it was good to see the others again that I had previously met at the picnic. It looks like you made a day out of it and got some nice goodies. Especially that wixey digital readout. I asked a question about that today and Steve, and others, said it was a good thing to have. I think I will continue to resist the temptation a while longer. Glad I didn't go by HF to get the hold down clamps since they were out of stock. Already looking forward to the next lunch, wherever and whenever it is scheduled.

Roger (Sapwood) must have gotten there after me. There were some left after I picked up three of the clamps and some sanding sponges that were on sale. It was a good lunch and a good bunch (of North Carolina Woodworker's).

Glenn,

Glad you and all the others had such a good time together (but it looks like Tar Heel's diet progress prevailed as I see no food on the tables!). CongROCKulations on all of the sweet tool buys -- I just installed my Wixey tablesaw Fence readout on my Grizzly G1023 SLX with the Shop Fox Beisemeyer clone fence on it. I did take the main rail off and ended up drilling and tapping the holes for the mounting brackets in the bottom of the SF rail since I managed to twist off one of the self-threading machine screws they provided (the two are almost identical in size and thread pitch). Works like a dream.

I sat next to Stuart (George) and I was impressed with his efficiency of filling two plates to cut down on the travel time. Now he did eat well, no food actually fell on the table

Respectfully submitted,
Dave

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

And I still had lost 1 lb when I weighed in this morning. Now that is real progress. I was afraid that good house special banana pudding might be my undoing since I don't eat desserts anymore.

Yep, it was a delightful afternoon . . . good food, excellent camaraderie, and educational as always.

Thanks for setting this up, Stuart

George, you need to eat slower or I need to eat faster and talk less. I only got one clamp . . . the last one

However, I did make it to J&D salvage where I received $46 cash ($1.70 per lb.) for 211 ft of No. 10 copper wire. I figure it's a rebate on replacing the well pump Monday

No wonder Fredp didn't make it to lunch. . . he was cleaning up the shop for Glenn's arrival

Roger

Interesting observation, at least to me. When I got home both the top om my heard and my arms had obviously gotten some sun. My wife asked how could that happen, if all I did was go from the car to restaurant.

Well I explained what seems to be the ritual with all these lunches that I have been to.

We talk a bit as we wait for the food to arrive. When that happens everyone gets relatively quiet and eats very fast andthe everyone pleads how they must get to work, run an errand, do yard work, whatever. Then we all pay our bills and go out into the parking lot where most of us seem to spend another 45 mins talking. Thus the sun.

Very astute Steve, the bottom line is, we North Carolina Woodworker folk are by nature, sociable critters but love the fresh air
