Tommy,

We actually do have cats also. they are not my first choice, but I have to admit I warm up to them. I am not sure I would for a snake. Actually I am pretty sure I would not. I don't like "pets" that have to be caged for reasons other than their protection. The hamsters my daughter has kept can be released from the cage, will come out and play with her and go back in if they get hungry or tired. Before I saw that, I was not so crazy about them either; I didn't realize they can actually bond with people. They can. But they still aren't particularly intelligent when it comes to not chewing on wires or eating too much of the wrong thing so it makes sense to cage them when you can't watch them (IMO). But one of my kids' God mothers used to keep a hamster with no cage, so it is certainly doable.

Still sending prayers, but getting more concerned. Please give us an update - even if its "I don't know anything yet".

Tom,

I'm very sorry to hear about that. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope all goes well for you Tom. It still amazes me just how attached we do get to our pets but we do.

Thank you all very much for your thoughts and prayers.

Grady remains in the hospital, but is recovering.
Essentially, they enlarged the opening from his stomach to the intestines.

He is still on IV only, but they will introduce some food today.

Good Lord willing, I can bring him home tomorrow evening. Special food, restricted diet for awhile, sutures out in a couple weeks I expect.

He was a very sick beagle, and I am at a complete and total loss as to how I can even begin to express my gratitude to the Doctors and staffwho cared for him. I have no doubt that without their excellent care, I would have lost him.

The graying of my hair is advancing at an accelerated rate!

Don't know what I would do if one of my pups got sick. They are the main focus in my family.

Glad the prognosis is good!! Keep us up to date!

Grady is still in our prayers, and we're glad to here that he's doing better.

That is GREAT news! If you need a visit from a therapy dog, then Clara will be right along..... A day out at the picnic sounds like a perfect tonic.
