I went to Minneapolis for some sharepoint training. Awesome training but I got sick the day I got there. Hacking, coughing, stopped up. Got home Wed night, late and I couldn't even smoke, I would start hacking more. So went and bought the patch and since I don't have to be back to work until next week, taking advantage of the cold to quit. We'll see how long I go this time. 6 mths is my previous best. Every time I think about smoking, I think about the 10 minutes of coughing that accompanied it.

Any reason to quit will do, a cold is a great one. You feel so lousy you don't care about the cravings After you get better, don't feel like you've "lost" anything. It'll be tempting to start. I downloaded one of those counters that track how long you've been smober, # of cigarettes not smoked, and best of all, money saved! Saved to go into the tool fund of course.

Stay strong, hope you feel better, and way to go!

Hang in there! The cravings will go away whether you smoke or not. The next one will be weaker and shorter if you don't.

Hey Rob,

A. Sorry you're under the weather - looks like you got out of that trip after all.

B. Congrats on trying to quit. If you start to loose the drive, give me a call & I'll swing by and smack you around a little if you want. As a bonus, you mentioned wanting to build a nice workbench right? Lets see, assuming you used to be a pack a day kind of guy - $2.80 a pack X 365 = @1022.00 - go ahead and pick up one of those Veritas end vises, it's effectively free...

Congrats again man, give me a call if you need anything.

Stick with it... It is so worth it. I am working on about 10 years now. Wasn't a heavy smoker mostly social but I know I could tell a difference after about 6 months of no smoking. Go for it... Looks like you will have plenty of support here.

Good luck Rob! As others here have stated there is a lot of support on this site to quit. I know of at least two others that have quit this year. Let us know how you are doing.
