I received the bar height table base that Dino offered via Tom's offer to have it delivered to Raleigh. It is exactly what I need to make a relief carving bench that will take a heavy pounding. It's the nice round bottom type with the serious heavy duty pole like you would use for a basketball goal.

It's pretty much one of these:

with the large base/pole option and signs of a bit of experience.

Thanks guys!

I will get proper pictures after I fashion a top and place it in my tiny shop. The latter part really won't be that bad. I have a couple of cabinets that have stubby legs so the base can slip under a little or be near in a corner without blocking drawers or doors from opening.

I'm glad you can put it to good use. It has been sitting behind the restaurant for a while and I thought of throwing it away several times. It was a few days after it had been picked up that I even noticed that it was gone. Good luck with it and lets see some pics.

I will probably have some shameful pics first as I will go ahead and attach a piece of scrap (and the s is optional ) as a small table to clamp things to pretty much right away. That's partly so I can work it into my current ongoing workshop reorg and stake it's claim to a little piece of real estate and partly because I do get a chance to carve every now and then and while I am reorganizing, all my surfaces are crowded. I have some drawers on the way that will help get that moving along better.

OK, as promised, here is a shameful pic of a temporary top. I have some rattle can Rustoleum and will paint the base in the next few days. I just did a little minor shaping to get a feel for how solid this is - like a rock!
