Bad day

I got up this morning feeling that it was not going to be a good day - the concrete man finally got here after FOUR! weeks - I finally got to work around 9:30 climbedup onto the second floor where we are setting the floor joist 2x12x24 yellow pine - the SECOND! nail I tried to drive I hit the other floor joist with my hammer - that through my swing off and it hit my little finger taking my nail with it -pics soon - I have it bandaged up pretty good now - the boss sent me to the doc where he took it the rest of the way off and put five stiches in

I got back to work and we where still dealing with those heavy joist - I was taking some excisiting blocks off and I pulled a nail that had been there for 80 years lost my balance - right hand went through the ceiling (we are taking it down any way) and I rolled over in between the escisiting floor joist and my upper body went through that part of the roof I caught my self with my ribs and my arms ribs got the worst part of that ordeal - not broke put very soar -

Then I got off work and seen "Tool Sale" sign I followed the signs and they are having a sale at the NG Armory - went in to take a look and they had some great deals - COULDN'T buy anything - Don't have the money because I just wrote a check for what has been poured on the ground this morning - the concrete

Our kids have a swim team party tonight - I decided to stay home - the way things are going today I would propably slip and fall hit my head on the side of the pool and fall in and drown

Re: Bad day

Ouch. With a day like that I would write today's date on a piece of paper and then throw it away. After that, take 3 or 4 Advil and go to bed. Tomorrow will be a new day but I bet you will be sore.

Re: Bad day

Thanks Tracy for the offer - Scott I took one of the pain pills the doc gave me but it hasn't knocked me out yet - as you can tell - jtodd you are so right - today as I was sitting in the docs office I asked God now what is the lesson from this - He told me "just put it all in my hands and let me take care of all of your life" You are right I did get stronger today

"just put it all in my hands and let me take care of all of your life"
A good philosophy, but I don't think God'll do much for ya if yer standin' under a tree (or playin' a bass guitar) durin' a thunderstorm. I believe he expects you to use some reason and care about what you do. You'll still have problems, but He doesn't like to be tempted. When I have troubles like your day, I have a hard time deciding wherther I'm being tried or warned. Hope you get to feeling better.

Re: Bad day

I'm sorry you had a bad day, I've had those too, and the story was much like yours with different circumstances. Everybody has them, and they are the pits!!!! On the bright side, you're still on the green side of the grass, and from where you seem to be, it can only get better...at least I keep telling myself that when I'm in that situation. I feel for you though.

Re: Bad day

Well, they say any day above ground is good, but yours tried to disprove that. Glad you didn't get more seriously hurt, sorry you couldn't buy tools and agree that skipping the pool party was probably a good idea. I hope you are not too sore tomorrow. Keep your faith and follow doctor's orders.

Re: Bad day

I agree - we will always have problems - but how we react to those problems is what we should be looking at - I do feel that God does watch how we handle the small things so that He can give us bigger and better things -

When I wrote the thread I didn't mean for it to sound like I was winning about the day - I just wanted to let everyone out there to always think about safety - In a split secound a hammer took off my nail and gave me five stiches - I pull a nail and almost fall nine feet on to a concrete floor - please be careful out there

Re: Bad day

Phillip, days like today are never fun (or funny) until you tell someone about today, years from now.

Something else I tell myself, I'll feel better about this situation after it quits hurting....

"What doesn't kill us, is supposed to make us stronger".

It's days like these that make me feel like I should be Superman any day now.

I agree with your point about safety. And sometimes, the safest thing you can do is go back to bed. Hope it all gets better for you.
