This one had me fooled into thinking it was a mean snake, the way it coiled up, shook it's tail against some pine straw and lunged at me. But it was no match for a 10 lb sledge hammer now was it Poor little yankee black racer was about 2 1/2 foot long, but now it has a flat head... It should have let me get a better look at it then it still would be alive - stupid snake. Ya'll be careful out there - I've seen lots of snakes this year - must be a bumper crop.

Here's a picture of what it looked like before the flat head episode.

Thanks

My oldest daughter got bit by a copperhead Friday night. Spent 8 hours in the ER.

They said they have seen more bites this year than ever before.

I spent the whole weekend cutting brush around the house. Lots of chiggers out there.

Finally saw him Sunday afternoon, blew him away with a 20 GA.

Yeah, she's a lot better, had a strong reaction to the antibiotic, but doing better now.

I feel for her mike! thats what got me many years ago. I was about 120, miles from a hospital and got hit several times before I could get away. I was 3 days in the hospital and coundnt even put a shoe on for about 5 weeks. copperheads are a painfull bite. hope she is doing ok.

I know Kyle - I really do feel kind bad about flattening that snakes head - like I said it fooled me into thinking it was a mean snake and if it would have let me get a better look at it - it would still be alive today. I guess when it's up by the house coiled up, shanking it's tail and lunging at me it's better off dead. I would hate for one of my grand daughters or kids or wife to get bit by that sanke. Least that's my excuse...

Thanks

Why, I don't blame you one bit Jeff, that ole snake might of had mad snake disease or even worse Wood-pile-o-phobia!

I generally leave the black snakes alone though.

Thanks for the well wishes.
