Type of Help Needed: Other
Where: Main Site

Is it only me, or are other members also getting pop-ups while lurking this forum? Some are woodworking relate others are not. I have all my security set to block pop-ups but to no avail. This is a great site and these pop-ups are getting pesky. I don,t seem to get them at other site.

Thanks for your help.

Re: POP-UPS

Nothing seen here, but no doubt it COULD happen. First thing would be to check to see if you have any "special" browser toolbars installed.

Re: POP-UPS

I'm not getting any either. But it would help if you could provide a list of some of the domains that they are coming from. And or some screen shots. Some of us might be able to help you set things up to eliminate or at least minimize them

None on my end, but I do have a pop up filter in place.

Re: POP-UPS

Norm,

it sounds to me that you may have some AdWare or spyware cookies on your computer -- many sites download these obnoxious routines that will bypass some of the basic IE security settings and will just drive you nuts. I have a program called XoftSpySE that runs twice a week on my computer and identifies spyware and quarantines it. Check it out here (I have no vested interest in this company, but the software works).

Re: POP-UPS

The below pop ups appeared just during the time that I was writing this reply.

http://www.weekly-reports.com/jobs/?id=vtmain

A which taste better coke or pepsi but has no link.

Official IQ test no link.

http://www.woodworking4home.com/?hop=rwasinger

http://server2.mediajmp.com/v2/index.html?sub=chat

Thanks for all the replys. I guess I,ll have to look into software to get rid of spyware and adware. as suggested by Rob.

Re: POP-UPS

The woodworking4home.com is one of the Google Ads that comes up on the banner ad and you may have click on it by accident. I don't like it because they don't allow you a graceful exit and try to keep you on their site.
