Type of Help Needed: Suggestion
Where: Main Site
Assigned To: froglips
Help Desk Status: Assigned

It's nice to be able to click the Community> Member List Section. I was wondering if the location field could be added so that we could find members in our immediate area. Also, is there a way to turn off viewing some of the columns? If I could turn off the avatar column I would see more members on the page. Not everyone has avatars anyway and they are not something I need to see when trying to contact a member.

Thanks

Re: Member List Suggestion

I'm working on a member location search, hopefully this week we'll roll it out. Keep an eye out for the announcement

Controlling the viewed columns are managed in our system config tool, not something users have access to.

If we get feedback on the avatar, we can change it. I personally use it, when paging down I spot the avatar easier than the username. But thats just me.

Re: Member List Suggestion

To build on the request, can we set up a place in a person's profile where they can post a picture of themselves (if desired). It would make it easier, for me anyway, to keep up with who I've met and relate faces with screen-names.

Isn't that what the avatar is for? I mean, I have a picture of one of my dogs there (as you do) but it could easily be a picture of myself. I am aware, though, that younger people view this site and I don't want to cause nightmares!!

That's part of the basic system already. Most people just don't upload them. Perhaps some encouragement from the staff and peer pressure would help

BTW, here is where you can go to upload your picture.

And if you can stand the sight of me just long enough, you can go to my profile see what it looks like when you have both an avatar and profile pic.

Re: Member List Suggestion

I think a profile pic should show up along with your avatar on all postings...
If you have one

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Member List Suggestion

A profile picture only appears in your profile. You can check mine if you'd like -- I have my Copper Medallion there that I use as a signature in my finished projects (thanks to Rick Doby). All of my threads show my Great Pyrenees "Badger" hard at work...

Re: Member List Suggestion

Susan, the Memberlist search by City, State and County now works.

If you go to the Member List-> Search -> Advanced Search, you will see the new fields to enter search values.
