I keep reading about DQ and such but I can't find any info on it anywhere. What discounts do we qualify for and how do we use them? I'm sure everything is explained somewhere, this site is very well put together. I just can't seem to find it :bconfused

Thanks Fred, but I've already checked there. I saw the thread on DQ but all it has is info on what qualifies a member and how long it lasts. There's nothing in there about how to get a discount and where it is honored (what stores, etc). What am I missing?:confused1

its a secret!!! you have to learn the secret handshake or donate lots of cool lumber to the fred fund! if thats not acceptable then.... i dont know? i am not sure where or how much for all discounts but i think 2-5 % at woodworker supply and 10% at klingspore. i think steve is working on a woodcraft discount also but i dont know how that will work. someone will be along shortly to splain better n me. i think its all done electronically. be sure to make sure your profile is correct.

Joe, if I remember correctly there was a minimum number of posts AND you have to be a member for more then 30 days. Part of the reason for that is the list is only updated once per month. I hope that helps.

Happy Thanksgiving

Joe,
DQ status is the ticket to discounts. Of course, the discounts, merchants that provide them, and way they are handled vary. Some require a generic NCWWer ID card that appears under "NC WW Info" drop down menu when you become eligible. There are also two specific card under that same menu for East Wake Hardwoods (10%) and Hardwood Store of NC (Gibsonville $0.10 per bd ft). Klingspoor discounts are handled differently. Steve/Monty sends an electronic database of qualified members to them at regular intervals (3 months IIRC). The Klingspoor discount is 10% except power tools, sale items, and a couple other things I think.

Of course all of the discounts are dynamic, totally dependent on the good graces of the merchant and what we can wheedle outta them

And since this info changes from time to time I disclaim all of the above statements . . . deferring to staff who may amend or remand my post

But that's the gist of it AFAIK,
Roger
