Name: Chuck City: Panama City State: FL County: Bay Join Date: Jun 2008 Age: 59 Avg Visit Freq/Week = 5.68 over 180 days | I know how much ya'all like pictures so Char & I thought we would post a few of the progress we are making on the new workshop. It is becoming more useable every day but we still have a long way to go.
We finally got the workbenches/cabinets along the walls built. 2X6 SYP edge glued with biscuits & 2X4 SYP frames.
The RAS, Compound Miter Saw and small center bench are adjusted using 1/2" threaded rod.
Pegboard and clamp rack is up on cleats around the shop walls.
Char has built a few racks for small tools but we still have a lot of stuff to hang. We need more hooks.
Yes the tools do get used but dust collection sure helps to keep things clean. Here Char is using the newly rebuilt Delta jointer for her first time making a tennon jig for the tablesaw.
That's about it for now. We will post more as we progress if anyone is interested.

I like the wall cleat idea. I just put some pegboard up in my shop & now I'm wishing I had put the pegboard on cleats to give me some flexibility with wall cabinets too.

As a female woodworker I would like to know if your wife shares in the woodworking and what type of woodworking are you and she into? You know many of us are green with envy not from just the shop but the tools as well. |

Name: Chuck City: Panama City State: FL County: Bay Join Date: Jun 2008 Age: 59 Avg Visit Freq/Week = 5.68 over 180 days | Thank you all for the great comments. I'll try to keep it up to date and maybe some day we'll be building some things that aren't actually for the shop. If any of you are interested you can see more pictures of how it was built and the complete progress so far you can check out our Picassa web album link at the bottom of each of our messages. WARNING, There are a lot of pictures with explanations on many of them.
We're not in the running for the number of posts we make .gif) so I'll respond to all of your questions in this one.
Tom: There is no movement in the Compound Miter Saw or the RAS with the 1/2" rod. The frames are drilled through SYP 2x4's, some countersunk under the tops, with large washers and nuts on both sides. Very easy to adjust too.
Rob: The shop is 24 X 30 with 10' walls.
Bas: When we get if filled up we'll probably we'll probably want a bigger one. By the way I still want to build your flip tool stand but it may be some time yet as I'm working on a rebuild of this.
Ernie: Thanks and we will post more as we get more done.
Charles, Tracy, Wayne, Randy & Trent: Thanks. The only green piece is the powermatic band saw and it need new paint if I can find a match for the color. If not it'll be Delta gray like the jointer. The lighting is three rows of 8' X 4 bulb T-8's from the BORG with daylight bulbs. It really helps these old eyes. Pool Table, now that's a thought, we already have the beer fridge, microwave and computer there.
Dennis: I'd have to dump some sawdust out of the trashcan seperator in order to take any.
Lorraine: Char does share in the woodworking and build many things herself. If you go to our Picassa site and find Char's Crafts you will see some of the things she likes to build. There are a lot more pictures in the Remodeling and Back Porch albums also if you have a LOT of time to look through it all.
If you want to steal any of the ideas we'd be proud as it's hard to contribute to all of you great folks with all of your knowledge.
Roger & Glenn: Char made the curtains and I love them. Heck, they even have tools.
Thanks again everyone and we hope to meet all of you this Fall.
