Over the past month I've been redoing my shop setup. I rebuilt my RAS base and lathe base. The open space beside the RAS will be a multi tool parking spot. It will be able to hold a downdraft table for sanding, the planer, or the mortiser. That will give an additional two feet on each side of the tool to act as in feed and out feed tables. The RAS and multi tool table also serve as an in feed table for the tablesaw. This is a real help when cutting sheets of plywood. All tables except the workbench are 34" tall. Above the tables I mounted a 12" wide strip of pegboard all around the shop. Then with 6" spacing between each cleat I mounted four 3" cleats all around the shop. I wish I would have done this cleat system years ago. It makes it real easy to move things around the shop as needs change.

I put a shelf all the way around the shop 16" from the ceiling. I chose the wire shelving to line the long wall so I could easily see what I have stored up there. Two great additions to the shop are a ceiling mounted 50' air hose reel and a 30' three outlet retractable extension cord.

Lastly here's my workbench. It's 32" tall and has 24 drawers. I share it with my wife. She has the left side for her stained glass materials. I left a small part for shelving to hold large items like gallon size jugs of mineral spirits and what not. I've only filled half of my drawers so far. Lots of storage space.

There's still a few small things to do but it's functional. I can't believe how much floor space I have with this setup.

Thanks for looking.

Paul

Nicely done Paul, gave me some ideas for completion of my shop, shelves and benches are getting pretty close to the top of my list.

Good looking shop Paul! Being able to use a table/ stand for multiple purposes is a real life saver in a small shop. I noticed a small shed in the back yard, I'm amazed this hasn't become the "workshop outpost" yet

Paul,

It looks good. Isn't is amazing what a little bit of organization
can do for a shop?

In reality, it's a never ending process we go through trying to
get our shops just right.

Thanks Glenn and Bas. The shed will be upgraded soon. It's badly suffering from storm damage.

Nice looking shop, and well organized too. Add some sawdust and you will be complete.

Great looking shop Paul. Your layout and pictures gave me a lot of ideas to steal too.

Thanks for the comments all. The sawdust is coming. One of my boys wants a Captains Bed. So that is the next big project. Unfortunately I get to play auto mechanic first on the 16 yr olds car.

Now that's a "thinking man's" shop! Nice layout. You've put a lot of thought and planning into it and it should serve you well.

Enjoy!
