Schreinermeister's Workshop tour in Germany

Gruesse aus Deutchland!
I've been in Germany working on a project and had a chance to take a tour of a larger workshop here in Germany.
The owner is the BIL of one of my colleagues and was very willing to show off his shop. I found out that WGD is not only on the North American continent. Each of his statements about his equipment ended with "Ich moechte kaufen das neueste oder ein groesserer....." (I would like to buy a bigger or newer......)
He had a nice Altendorf T/S with the auto fence, as well as a 60cm planer/jointer. a CNC machine and edgebanders........
He also had some pre WWII iron. An old tablesaw and an old shaper.
He showed me his veneer cutter as well and 18' panel saw.

It was a really nice diversion from meetings and meetings and more meetings.

Gruesse, Ron

OH...it did happen......

Nice wide belt sander with pneumatically activated pressure plate.

Altendorf table saw with autofence...accurate to .1mm.

And a picture of a Contractor's table saw ...Metabo on display in a store window....

Ron,

I think the upgraded version of any of these would be downright scary. That shop has some really impressive tools.

Re: Schreinermeister's Workshop tour in Germany

I got to see a little of his work....It is amazing.
To get the title of Schreinermeister you have to go through years of apprenticeship and training.
Then a board reviews your works to give you the title.
Unlike the US...they can't just put up a sign that says "Master furniture Maker".....they have to have the credentials to prove it.

Ron:

I leave for Munich on Saturday arriving on Sunday. I will be there all week. Any chance I can see that shop in person? Just kidding, I have no time.

First, you do this:

"Hello, Chase? I'd like to increase the credit limit on my six Chase Freedom cards to $50,000 each. What do I need to do?"

Then you do this...

Ring...Ring... "Welcome to the Wachovia Home Equity Hotline... Press 1 for English and 2 for Spanish ...Marque dos para el español>...."

And then...

Paging TravisPorter...please pick up the white courtesy phone

Paging SCSmith...please pick up the other white courtesy phone
