Until recently my miter saw has resided on an old kitchen cart, At the same time I had a Festool MFT (Multi-function table) resting on its side when not in use and the systainers (containers that the Festool tools come in) sitting on the floor with the Festool vacuum.

I got the idea to combine everything and get rid of the kitchen cart. I built a cabinet with roughly the same footprint as the MFT. I made dividers to house trays/shelves for the systainers which ride on full-extension slides (thanks Travis). The front houses two columns of systainers and a storage area for sandpaper. I plan to add a shallow sliding tray on the upper left side for small parts and accessories.

The drawers on the right have extra storage compartments in the back of each tray.

Finally the back side houses the vaccum and will hold another column of systainer trays. (room for growth.)

The cabinet is on wheels and I plan to add a face frame to each side. I am also storing the MFT parts underneath along with extra vacuum bags. I glued 4 squares to the top to positively engage the MFT and keep it in place.

It is high, but I like that better.

Doug

Doug, that really came out nice. I was looking at a Kapex today and I thought of you...

Re Travis - don't feel bad - he gives EVERYBODY a hard time!

Steve, welcome to the NCWoodworker! That's an incredible shop that you have, and I enjoyed looking at your website. Good luck with your move (and be sure to volunteer your shop for an upcoming "Shop Crawl"!

I have concluded that you are doomed. When I try to click on the "Pray For Me" button nothing happens!

It was for sale on Raleigh Craigslist. I think it was around $100 for a $185 block plane that was new/unused. Gone now.... I didn't even call or check on it for once, but let me promise you this, that won't happen again.

Re: Homemade sysport (Festool Dock)

One of the ways I measure the success of a shop improvement is: does it make my life in the shop better. With the sysport table the answer is YES! The systainers lock together, but unless you are taking them to a job site that makes it more difficult to get to the tool you need as you have to unlock the boxes to get to the ones that aren't on top.

With this unit all the items are avilable at the same time. I know where everything is. I can clean up more quickly and I am using the tools more! If I had a negative it would be that my shop is toooooo small.

To quote Hannibal from the A-team "I love it when a plan comes together!"

So is mine...

This site is an incubator for wood guy disease. My shop was plenty big until I found out about Felder's, wide belt sanders, 16" jointers, etc, etc, etc....

The addiction is as bad as cigarettes.
