Cyclone duct work before and after

I thought you all might get a kick out of my "brilliant" first attempt at the duct work for my cyclone. The final configuration is attached for comparison. Some days I am just a bone head.

The second does not use flex hose and the turns are more gradual without some unnecessary turns.

Yep, lifting it up helped a lot. But your first set-up would have been more fun for the dust...that's a sweet whoop-de-doo.

Great looking setup Doug! I just finished running some 4" S&D and know how fun it can be putting it all together. Can't wait to see it in person.

Re: Cyclone duct work before and after

Doug,

That shop has come along very nicely. Doesn't seem so long ago it was just the third bay of a large garage... with a load of boxes. It's gotta be more fun to work in a shop that's well organized. Congrats

Doug, The ductwork looks good. What's the story on the door? Looks like the only guy that can use it is the one pictured in your avitar, LOL.

Re: Cyclone duct work before and after

Dino:

Which door? The white area behind the ducts is a window with the blind down. The garage door works fine. (on the left in one pic.)

Ray:

It has come a long way. I am almost afraid to get it dirty now. I have to sell some stuff I found during the cleaning. But the space, while small, is now quite enjoyable to work in.

Re: Cyclone duct work before and after

My mistake. I see it now, but I thought that window was a door - dumbass me!

Re: Cyclone duct work before and after

How much room do you have between the wall and the garage door? my garage is set up similarly and I want to see if I can cram one of those guys in there...

- Steve

BTW: I understand binary but not your signature... I think you have a typo.

Re: Cyclone duct work before and after

Steve:

I am a lousy typist. I corrected the signature line.

I have about 18" between the door edge and the wall (I guess). Come on the crawl and see for yourself.

Re: Cyclone duct work before and after

Thanks, I'd like to make it to the crawl but don't know if I can commit yet. Will it be an all day thing or just the morning?

Doug, the duct work looks fantastic! (Say that ten times fast) I look forward to having dust collection some day. Until then, the broom and I will coninue to be best friends.

Steve:

With 6 shops, almost 60 miles and lunch, it will be an all day thing. If you want I'll PM you my address and you can join the afternoon part. I'll have to call you to let you know when to be there, so PM me your phone #.

Re: Cyclone duct work before and after

Ray:

I used pipe from Kirk & Blum. They are in Greensboro.Their number is 336 - 668 -3773. The Cyclone came with some of their duct work. It is like Nordfab in that it used quick clamps to join adjacent pipes over their lips. There are pieces that can be adjusted lengthwise. They were very helpful.

They have a wide range of sizes. Mine are 6" and 4"

Here is a link.
