A clean shop is a sign of a disturbed mind.

I just put a fan blowing in through one side of the shop and one blowing out through the other. Then I get out the backpack blower. That's probably why the back side of my house looks yellow. HA!

I've always though that any space that needs regular cleaning should be designed with a 2-3 in gap between the floor and ANY thing sitting on the floor. Then build a system of sprayers (water or air; probably both, water to wash everything away and air to dry) to flush out all accumulated junk periodically. Of course, I've never actually done this...

I tend to clean my shop when I finally get enough projects done that I can see more than 10% of the floor space!

Sorry to hear about your shop cleaning woes Dave.

Recently, during TABLE SAW Hanna , I took everything from the shop up into the house in case it flooded. Probably would've been a great time to sweep up all of that saw dust. ................... It's all back in there now, sawdust is still everywhere. I'm not sure about spiders, but I have quite a community of roaches in my shop. I see them on the floor all the time. I don't even care though, they don't mess with me, I don't mess with them.

I have had my fair share of Black Widows in the shop, once found a nursery!! All were relocated (two pairs of gloves, rag.....) to what is now known as "Black Widow Pass" down the bottom of the garden - I just haven't told the neighbour

Since we're talking about critters in the shop, I must share a couple pictures of my Shop Pet. She's been hanging around (ahem) off and on for the past couple summers. As long as she doesn't decide to drop on my head while I'm sawing, she can stay! (Funny...haven't seen any rats around!)

Unfortunately, she likes bluebirds, too..and she's a good climber. The hole's been plugged, but we lost one batch of nestlings before I discovered her scheme.

Well, I'm in between. If I am turning, I clean up a lot because there is considerably more sawdust and it is slippery. I often sweep up every time I stop for the day. However, if I am scrolling, I rarely dust.

That is "Awesome" as you Americans would say - don't you just love snakes! Reminds me though - must put a baffle on the new Blue bird house we put up.....

Very nice snake! Wish I had one in my shop but I always relocate my lizards and toads so I guess I would do the same with a snake. I worry about them getting mashed when I'm moving boards, equipment, etc. I accidently grabbed one when I was reaching for a board in my wood storage shed, though. Turned out to be a rat snake, thank goodness.

We have a large double-garage door in the shop and hummingbirds use to fly in, couldn't find their way out, and died rather quickly. So, we bought this huge screen that fastens up with velcro. Once a hummingbird flew in while I was working and finally fell on a shelf from exhaustion. I didn't see any breathing but I picked him up and rushed him over to a feeder and held his mouth up to the juice. All of a sudden his tongue went in and out and after a couple of minutes he stood up and then flew out of my hands up into the trees. It was very cool.

Best way to let the H'Birds find their way out is to shut off any lights. They come into mine to tell me the feeder is getting low or there is a wasp on it that is challenging them and they want me to run it off!!.
