Hello everyone. I have just joined. My name is Rebecca Gholson and I work with my husband, Tom Gholson, who owns Asheville Hardware and the soon-to-be-launched Asheville Woodworking School.

I hope you western North Carolinians have all visited our store at 91 Biltmore Ave!

Our school is located in our lower level. We have a 1,000 sq ft bench room and 1,000 sq ft machine room. We have all new equipment and some fabulous, experienced teachers lined up. Our very first class is CRAZY SHARP with Andy Rae. Please see www.ashevillehardware.com.

Not all our classes are listed on our website yet. We will regularly offer Fundamentals of Woodworking (35 hours, a variety of times), plus specialty classes such as French Polish, Intarsia, Women in Woodworking, Learn to Turn, Learn to Carve & many more.

Thank you! -Rebecca

Rebecca,

A warm welcome to you and Tom to the site. We hope that you'll start an additional thread in the Who We Are Forum to provide an introduction to all of our members. Further, we'd encourace you to start a Photo Gallery and post some pictures of the store and the new teaching areas. Around here, our members believe that "no pics, it didn't happen!" We are happy to see you join.

Thanks Rebecca
It's great to have new resources for woodworkers in NC. Keep up the good work. Hopefully, I will find myself in Asheville so I can check out store and shop.

Visited Asheville Hardware while in Asheville the first week in January. Friendly and helpful staff. Pocked up a couple of small items at reasonable prices too. Look forward to the schedule of classes. Welcome!!

Re: Asheville Woodworking School

Welcome Rebecca,

I'm glad you decided to join us. While my business travels keep me from enrolling in classes, I do appreciate what you do to keep the craft alive and well.

Please do post some photos. It's how many of us are inspired. Tell us a bit more about what you like to build.

Ray

Re: Asheville Woodworking School

Welcome, Rebecca. I was in Asheville a couple weeks ago and couldn't remember where your store is! Didn't have my computer!

I'll keep a check on the class schedule, as I have some time on my hands for the next several weeks.

Again, Welcome!

Welcome to the site, Rebecca! I'll have to look your store up the next time LOML wants to go to the Biltmore Estate to get decorating ideas.
C'mon, guys, you've got one like that, right?

Great to have you with us Rebecca! If I get over that way, I will definitely stop by. I'm a turner, so I'll be interested in seeing who you have teaching the turning classes.

Re: Asheville Woodworking School

Rebecca,

Welcome. Being new to NC (2 1/2 years), Your store and shop seems to be another reason for me to pack up the family and visit the left side of the state. Hopefully, I'll be able to stop in and say hello soon.

Jimmy
