I have been thinking that a group buy for some Anchorseal might be in order, so I made a few calls. Here is what we've got.

Anchorseal-clear
55 gal drum-$277.75
275 gal tote-$1388.75

This breaks out as follows:
Anchorseal $5.05/gal

I suggest that at this savings we go with the following pricing $9.00/ 1 gal $37.00/ 5 gal to make a donation of the balance to North Carolina Woodworker. This product retails at $21.99/gal so we would still see a huge savings.

Please post a reply and include how many gals you would like. I will tally the counts and collect the money on Fri. 9-18-09 this will allow the thread to run for 2 weeks. To avoid Paypal fees, a check is preferred, but if you insist on PP we can work that out. A distribution point will be set up in the Raleigh area and I am sure that as always we can work out some PE's if needed.

At this time you will need to provide a container, but I am still working with UC Coatings on a price for empties.

Myself-5-paid
Mike Davis-5-paid
Jeremy-5-paid
Gonzalo+Andy-5-paid
Nick-5_paid
Stuart-2-paid
Michael-1
Phillip-5-paid
Jay-10 if winterized-paid
Greg-5-paid
Scott S.10-20+ colors if we go buckets.-paid
Ken-5 winterized if can p/e or ship for $5.00-paid
Scott M.-5-paid
Chris M.-1-paid
Matthew-5-paid
Tim-5-paid
James D.-2-paid

Thanks in advance!

Hey Jay,

I'll take a bucket and lid if you got an extra. Won't be able to be there though as i have to work both days. If you can let either Gary or Scott now, if that is you have an extra for me. Thanks!

Thanks~!

Matthew,

I'll bring a couple of buckets up to the pickup point. If I don't use them, I will leave them there--if OK with Scott--for you and/or someone else to use.

Actually, it is a small roughing gouge that Tim is giving me after he bent it pretending it was a bowl gouge.

We all owe Gary a big round of applause.

He put this together to save us all some money and raise some for the site at the same time, handled the ordering, payment, much transport and is even schlepping around tools and running guns for us.

Re: Pickup time/place added. Anchorseal Group buy?

I had a great time meeting up with Scott,Gary,Matthew,Scott S.,Gonzalo,Andy and everybody else that I may have forgot,I apologize.Got the major tour since I showed up so early, and was put to work by Scott.Enjoyed the task's,got to talk with Scott and everybody else for several hours.Had to force myself to leave all those toys and go home.I realized after I left that I never approached Scott about any lumber for myself.Oh well,I guess I'll have to go back.Won't that be a shame.I did take pictures but haven't posted any recently so if somebody wants to fill me in I'll get them up today.

Gary,Thanx for the time and effort to get this done and make it so smooth.Group buys can be mindnumbing at times so Kudos to you.Saved me a bunch of money so I really appreciated it a bunch.I'll talk to you about the hollowing tools soon. It's a great day when you get home and you made a bunch of new friends, your armed and dangerous, have a sweet Festool saw and rails in your possesion, and I got a great deal on some anchorseal to boot. Now thats a good day!

Re: Pickup time/place added. Anchorseal Group buy?

Actually, I (Andy) wasn't there; not sure if another was. I was up in Wake Forest with the kids; Camp kanata had an open house and they wanted to go up and refresh their memories from the first 3 years of the Y father/child program (Fall outing is there the first three years). The rai held off long enough for us to have a good day shooting bows and pellet rifles, hiking around the lake, climbuing and plying. It was neat watching my teenage daughter moving around to different benches at the spot where they do a bonfire trying to remember places where her tribe sat and taking pictures to IM to her friends. Made me feel like maybe I did something right.

I went and picked up my jug from Gonzalo later and heard about the good times yall had at Scott's. I wish I could have been there also, but not instead of where I was. Hopefully I will make it down to the clamp making.

I already used some of the Anchor Seal. A neighbor and I took down an ornamemtal cherry in his yard early yesterday and I sliced up a log I kept at Gonzalo's. I also still had the mulberry to seal. I had to cut a couple of small end checks on some pieces of the mulberry as a penalty for not sealing it right away, but the AS sure is a lot cheaper and easier to use than TB III!

Yes, many kudos to Gary!

Re: Pickup time/place added. AnchorSeal Group buy?

Many thanks to Scott and Gary for the AnchorSeal Deal. It was a great day of fellowship with fellow woodworkers and some good food to boot. I was running late and when I found out I was just in time for the tenderloin and chips I knew that good things come to those who wait. This was my first trip to the Tool Ma Hal, but hopefully not my last. Scott, you have a great place there. Gary , you did a good thing for those who took advantage. Those who didn't missed out .

Thanks,
James
